I Am thinking about a classic .22 to train grandkids. I want quality, not cheap.
What are your thoughts on the SA2020? .22 CAL.

Seems as quality a rifle as other brands. Uses 10/22 mags and a rem 700 trigger style makes it a good style of rifle.
Drawback is that is does not seem to have a threaded barrel for suppressor
Will work for you as well with critters around the pond

I shoot std velocity CCI only from mine, with a 36x scope, benched, it surpassed the guarantee and shot half inch groups at 50 yards.

Get a CZ 457. Skip anything else for a quality .22 rifle but add a 10/22 for cheap unstoppability. im using a 10/22 to teach the next generation. short and easy to handle for a 10 year old. cz 457 to show them a .22 can be really precise. then a 12 gauge when theyre older to show how powerful a gun can be.

I started with a GOOD air rifle. I grew in the city when you could still shoot "BB" guns in the backyard. During cold weather we shot in the basement, using a box of old news papers for a backstop. I still keep a RWS around for occasional stress relief.
Dad didnt let us F around with the guns. He said if I was shooting then I was SHOOTING. When I got to High School I made the rifle team as a freshman
My former brother in law, who didnt know which end the bullet came out, couldnt qualify in the PD academy; so I started him with a quality pellet pistol shooting 50 rounds everyday until qualification. He passed but made a lousy cop

I and the wife are very happy with our threaded 2020's. Smooth bolt, the firearm is heavier than the 10-22, so very stable and uses Ruger mags. Fit and finish are very good. Decent OE triggers but we added some after market triggers and a pair of Vortex scopes. Other rifles out there of course but this is a solid rifle and accurate, using CCI AR tactical.
