Nice! I love the PDP. Funny enough, my local LGS is next door to an Aldi!
I decided to add some checkering to the mainspring housing it didnt have enough grip with just the horizontal slots still need to point the checkering its different but I kinda like it ?Did some work on it today thought I'd do something a little different on the mainspring housing and the grip safety in the same style but larger than the back of the slide.
I'm not super happy with the stippling on the front strap but what's done is done. It certainly with be a very personal gun for me so in that regard it's gonna be ok.
That is really nice.I decided to add some checkering to the mainspring housing it didnt have enough grip with just the horizontal slots still need to point the checkering its different but I kinda like it ?
Thanks it's a good feeling to do your own work even if it's not perfect! That is really nice.
I've never done anything along the lines of your project so I can only imagine the level of self satisfaction. I know doing my own work definitely feels gratifying just knowing I saved money and acquired a skill set that can be passed onto my son and nephews, or help others with questions. I also find working on my stuff to be therapeutic, just being able to take my time and slow life down from my 100mph work life. Thanks it's a good feeling to do your own work even if it's not perfect!
Man, i'll sell you a whole rifle for that.$632.60 for an experimental barrel.
Does an Encore count?Anyone own a 308 pistol?
If you'd asked me even five years ago the depth of my gunsmithing I would have thought no way now I'm addicted always anxious to try to top my last build or upgrade.I've never done anything along the lines of your project so I can only imagine the level of self satisfaction. Know what you mean attended an 18 month gunsmithing class on the GI Bill. Thought about opening my own shop but the law enforcement bug bit me and went that route. In hindsight often wondered if I made the right choice. From what you've shown us you're a darn good smith now.If you'd asked me even five years ago the depth of my gunsmithing I would have thought no way now I'm addicted always anxious to try to top my last build or upgrade.
I think shooting bullseye and the cost and time it takes for a "gunsmith" to do what I need drove me into doing my own work I enjoy the challenge but it's still expensive doing your own work !
Thank you I've been thinking about smithing when I retire in a year and a half but a lifetime of electrical work has taken a toll on my hands just had surgery as a matter of fact for arthritis in my thumb the one I need the most unfortunately.Know what you mean attended an 18 month gunsmithing class on the GI Bill. These pics were taken prior to final polish btw.Thank you I've been thinking about smithing when I retire in a year and a half but a lifetime of electrical work has taken a toll on my hands just had surgery as a matter of fact for arthritis in my thumb the one I need the most unfortunately.
When you do good finish work on a gun I realized two things you don't get paid enough and it's tough on your hands lots of filing and sanding.
I'd say you made a good choice if you can retire with a good pension then you can build a few and hope to break even or make a few bucks !
I just finished a build and it's at the nitride shop will have back on Tuesday or Wednesday I'll post some pics it's a G-Man super 38 the build came out very well.
Here's a couple pics. It will be all black nitride except the barrel.
I've got a 12.5" 308win that weighs around 9# and it kicks like none other! The lantac brake/comp gives it a little bit more controlability, but kicks a ton! Not sure on which gas system it's using?Does an Encore count?
Ive also got a 12" AR308 and a HK G3K
The 20% off helps, but they did have a 30% on a 24 hour deal i missed.Man, i'll sell you a whole rifle for that.![]()
