Sorry in advance for the TLDR people.
Also, I don't really know what area to post this...Skills? Survival? Mods please move as needed.
OK, probably a weird question to ask a group of total strangers on the web, but I found myself in a position today that I’ve never been in before.
I know (at least I think) we have some active and retired police in here, so I’m hoping for some suggestions.
My wife and I had just come home from grocery shopping. We live in an apartment complex where parking is at a premium, as we parked we noticed a car occupying 2 stalls in front of our building, It didn’t have the parking tag that our complex uses, so I asked my wife to snap a pic of the car/plate so we could email it to the property manager to see if she knew the person, so she could contact them to have it moved a little…otherwise the complex has non-resident cars towed.
Important note, this cars windows were blacked out, I mean if the sun was INSIDE the car you wouldn’t see it….
So as my wife took the pic, the drivers door opened and a man started profanity laced screaming at her about the pic, at the same time another man came out of an adjacent apartment and started screaming at her too, something like “You want a problem?? Mind your business.., That’s my visitor, he can park wherever he wants”… I should note that this guy has multiple “visitors” a day, nearly everyday, make of that what you will…
So, at this point I was coming back out of our apartment, and I was getting ready to become the aforementioned problem
, but my wife continued to try and de-escalate and urged me to dial it down…I complied, however the other guy from the apartment just kept pushing, like he wanted the fight…Seriously dude??
Ultimately we finished carrying our groceries in while the whole time he kept trying to push…I have NEVER held back this hard in my life.
So, he finally ends with “try that again and see what happens”… Now, to me that seems like a threat, and my wife certainly thinks so too, and normally I’d call that bluff, but I know this guy carries (he wasn't today that I could see), I’ve often seen his gun hanging out of the back of his pants, and here in WI we have CCW and open carry, so it’s not all that uncommon to see something like that, the pinch here is that I think this dude is unstable enough actually use it… And the LAST thing I want is a damn shootout in an apartment complex, talk about the potential for collateral damage, we have a lot of children in this complex, I could never forgive myself for hurting one of them.
We notified our property manager, but my wife is actually worried this is going to be an ongoing problem now, since this dude seemed intent on confrontation today…
What do you guys think? Is this something we should have involved the police with?
