When A 1911 Shot Down a Japanese Zero

I heard about this story a while back, and made a meme for it. You may have seen this online. Also a dig at Glock fanboys, since they're always dissing the 1911, when the 1911 works just fine and has been in military service for over 70 years!

I have this model - the 1911A1 milspec - and I absolutely love it. I put SA's walnut "U.S." grips on it for added authenticity.

Nice....

But...GI 1911’s (or 1911A1’s) never had a “US” logo on the grips...that’s just something Springfield added for bling.

1911A1’s were mostly just checkered wood, later were brown plastic...early 1911’s had, iirc, double diamond style checkered grips.

Many years ago one of my co-workers was a Luftwaffe veteran from WWII. He often described the M1911 .45 as "pocket anti-aircraft."
