Which gun would you have

Forgot to mention in the earlier post that my 10-22 will be suppressed. ;)

It may all be moot anyway. Unless there's fire, flood or other causes that force me to bug out, I'm gonna hunker down at home with all my guns and ammo plus food and whatever else I need. You're gonna have to force me out into the cold, cruel world. 🤬

I’m with Grayfox-I ain’t going anywhere. And I’ve got my stuff here to meet my needs for a bit. Those folks in the city basically are screwed-despite what they may believe they aren’t going anyplace because there’s no place to go and no way to get there. Look at New Orleans a few years ago, the animals come out and prey on the general populace. Unless you’re set to defend in place you’re toast.

Short of having a helicoptor in my backyard , the vicinity around the Biggfoot Estate is better than having to transverse the huge urban sprawl blocking any significant distance on the other side .

Variations of this discussion are Eternal , for good reason . But alas ; they all come down to parameters and priorities .

To what extent pure survival in rural to wilderness environment vs armed engagements with packs of thugs or quasi paramilitary groups ?

Persevere for a few months vs disappear into the sunset forever and ever ? ( Hint - The closer it get to living off the land forever , the better a single shot .22LR rifle and 10 bricks of ammo looks .)

IF ammo availability is a prime factor for you , Workman's list needs trimming in 2025 .

.30-06 and .30-30 are no longer common on local shelves . .308 has displaced them .

As much as l still favor the Classic Answer of 4 inch .357 Mag as the one handgun to have for everything , local ammo availability is at best on par with .40S&W .

Two Wild Cards :

When ammo buying panics start , the popular calibers ( that everybody else bought to "simplify their ammo requirements " are the first ones to immeadately be cleaned off the shelves . While .357 Sig , 10mm , and .41 Mag will languish for months .

Firearms enthusiasts such as board members here , are more likely to have stacks of their favorite calibers waiting in their ammo stash at home .

Yep. A real freak. I’m glad it was never put into production

I’m there. If I didn’t have to work, I could live here with no problem. If it went down, we’d be fine for quite a while.
