Window Replacement Advice

Window World replaced 14 windows in my place about 8 years ago. Last year one of them developed a leak (condensate on the inside). They had it replaced in about 3 weeks after notification. Other than that I have been totally satisfied. They told me up front that they do not finish the paint after installation. Not a deal breaker for me.
About 1/2 the price of Anderson and Gulf Coast window.

This is the advice I took. Got e-glass double pane, and I’m glad I did. That glass has a peculiar tint, I don’t think you would want to mix and match on the same wall. Very effective in the summer.
Installation is very important, getting good measurements to begin with most important. While the product quality is important, poor installation will negate any advantage of premium glass.

had ours replaced about 28 years ago that had argon gas filled between a double pane to keep the heat outside during summer days....................it worked until it didn't as all of the gas leaked out. iirc, it was anderson windows. the bigger issue is that replacement windows aren't made like new install type...............doesn't have the flange on them.............unless you remove the brick or other exterior coverings to do so. no amount of caulk will ever keep the dirt and heat/cold from coming in. to me they cost more and are worth it..............just ask my wife! 6 windows @ $10,000...........what a joke! 1 was a 5x6 another 5x8, 3 were 3x5 and 1 was 2x3

I did have 2 Milgard windows installed 2 years ago. The windows are great but I used a local guy and just didn't like the installer. The windows they put in were installed just like a new build house. All old trim was removed and new window put in and new trim installed. Looks original. But these window were in a bathroom and other in washroom. Those 2 windows cost $2300. I thought that was expensive for small size windows. Guess I could have him come back and give me a price for the 6 I need to get replaced. Thanks for the responses guys, appreciate it.

Beware cheap window manufacturers. Some of the cheaper outfits look OK but will leak after a time. @belladonna probably has some thoughts here

Well, I work for Marvin. They are quality windows, but rather spendy. Andersen advertises a lot around here, as does Window World. Now, I have no first hand experience with either brand, but from the research I have done I don't think you would regret going with Andersen.
I worked for a time with a supervisor who hired Window World (Fargo store) and had a lot of issues, mostly with the installation part, but also had a faulty unit that needed replacing. They had a lot of back and forth issues too. Keep in mind that these are chain stores and each location operates as a separate entity. The parent company honors warranties, but often has no control over the installation piece.
Now, we replaced our Jeld Wen windows on our main level because they were casement and not conducive to the constant wind we have in an agricultural area. We went with a European style from MinKota windows, which tilt inward to let the air in without blowing everything off the walls, and they also open like a door for those rare calm days.
From what I do know of Andersen and World of Windows, I would lean toward Andersen. They have a strong fiberglass-type (patented) window which is customizable and guaranteed for a long time (can't remember exactly). My .02.

You could lock one of the sliders to the big pane of glass in the middle and slide both of them all the way over if say for instance you wanted to take a couch out of the house or something like that.
Our heating bills went down by probably 20% after we put those windows in.
Before I say this next part, remember that this is a 20 year old review and I'm in Colorado Springs and I'm assuming you're in New Mexico
We called them and a representative came out and gave us an estimate. Then he went back to the office and apparently quit his job. We heard nothing from the company for 6 months.
When we finally spoke to somebody from the company they sent somebody out to give us another estimate I don't think there was a real big difference between the two estimates.
We had a larger than normal slider.
The estimate the person gave us took the specialty window and the larger than normal slider into account.
We went with the estimate and signed the contract and it took them something like 4 months to even deliver the windows.
Once they delivered the windows the windows sat in my driveway for 3 weeks and we could not get anybody to come out and install them.
I finally had to threaten to go with a different installation company to get the owner off his *** to send somebody out to install the windows.
The very first guy that they sent out to do the install try to raise the price for the specialty window and the slider. We told him that the estimate included those windows and we weren't paying a dime more than what they estimated.
Long story short the whole installment process was a pain in the *** and it took them almost a month to get 11 windows installed.
Once the windows were in they were great. It was just the company and the contractors that was a pain in the ***.
Again, 20-year-old review. Different branch office.
