ding dong ditch claims life

Counting a litter of puppies, we've had about 20 GSDs

Some I'd trust not to bite and others I'd trust TO bite.

The girl we have now sounds scary, but the only thing she'd bite are squirrels, rabbits, and chickens.

If a burglar broke into our house, he'd leave because our dog would lick him to death.

But we'd sure know someone was coming.
Within one to two years, we are going to introduce a Cane Corso puppy into the security mix. By then our oldest GS will be between 7-8 years old. We've done GSs and Rottweilers (my favorite). We want to see what a Cane Corso is like next.

A bit extreme there.
There are legal and innocent reasons for kids to be out after 7pm. Guess your kids didnt have 8pm sports games ? Going to the movies , or just hanging out. There are always good kids in society. Not all kids are hooligans.
point 1) my wife and i did not raise thugs.

point 2) actually, none of my kids went into any sports, at least not in any sort of school sports.

I get that but there was enough extra monies to have multiple guns and bullets (report stated multiples), so they are prioritizing safety it would seem, and by extension one would think they would include a camera in that budget. Knowing what is outside can be critical info in defensive situations.
that particular home owner......may have had guns, 1, 2, 3, maybe 5,054 and ammo.

not all home owners do, or did you go on thinking every homeowner in America does..???

That's gonna be a handful of puppy

Each breed is different. I have spent sixty years with GSDs and almost have them figured out.

My son is a K9 handler, and he's had Rotts, German Shepherds, and Belgian Malinois. He says they're all different.

I'm too old to learn a new dog breed.

No but we’re were talking about this incident and in the context of someone shooting because of a ring at the doorbell no? So if in the context of this discussion and why a doorbell camera makes sense, yes one would assume those individuals have firearms and ammo other wise why the heck are we talking about?!

Those people without firearms won’t be shooting so your point makes no sense dude

And they should. I mean what if your doorbell rings in the middle of the night and it’s someone that needs help!

You don't have any legal duty or obligation to answer the door.

I would think that with the prevalence of cell phones, no one needs to be knocking on doors for help anymore.

If you're at home, call 911 and have an operator on the line summon law enforcement to your place if it's out of the ordinary when someone knocks on your door.

In this tragic scenario, I have to wonder what possessed the homeowner to open the door and fire.

I'm wondering if this is the FIRST time there'd been a knock-and-dash that evening.

It's not hard for me to imagine that the shooter had had repeated issues that night and just was fed-up with the knocking.

No excuse to shoot the kid...I'm just trying to figure the shooter's retaliation.

Dogs are a great layer of security. We've always had German Shepherds, usually more than one. We don't have a doorbell, and we know when someone is getting close to the gate.

But some people don't like dogs.

And I'm not sure the guy who shot the kid should be allowed to have a dog to abuse.

But then, I like dogs more than i do many people.
That would be because Dogs ARE better people than most people😏

I just figured the kid snuck out ..

I mean, my bedroom was on the second floor and my parents never saw or found my rope ladder...

I mean, I.would never admit to sneaking out... but, uhm, it'd be easy. If I actually did it a few times

no, not necessarily everyone has some sort of weapon. it could have been an old man or woman, living alone, and maybe thier son installed it, to maybe see it on thier device, so they can watch on the screen who is at mom/dad's doorstep,,,no...??

maybe the homeowner in this instance had one or several thousand guns...who cares..?? not everyone in American that has a ring doorbell has a weapon....uh DUDE...

Well, to be perfectly honest on this whole thing, there is no excuse for using a firearm on someone banging on your door or ringing the doorbell. In this day and age of ring doorbell cameras, security cameras and all this linked to your smartphone, you have the ability to see who is at your door regardless of the time of day or night. You have the ability to make a judgement call from the safety of your bedroom with that camera or security system. We have a security system with cameras at all outside doors or access points, which we have an app on our phones for. The cameras alert us to movement, even before they get into knocking/ringing distance. There are many ways to ascertain just who is at your door, courtyard, back yard, etc. And, I don't care where you live, shooting a fleeing person in the back is a serious NO-NO.
Good for you- nice to be rich. Most of us arent.

You’re not really making sense anymore. Let me recap to maybe bring you back mkay

Discussion was about a person that fired on some people who rang the doorbell and ran. It was brought up that doorbell camera’s can help so you’re not sure shooting through your door. You stated not everyone can afford doorbell camera. I countered they were around 100 dollars. You countered not everyone has 100 to which i stated the person in this instance had weapons and ammo. You said not everyone has weapons and ammo. Those people wouldn’t be part of the discussion though would they because they wouldn’t be shooting through a door now would they.

You can come up with whatever silly situation but you don’t make a lot of sense anymore so no point in continuing discussion with you. You just want to be correct which makes no sense. By all means, shoot through the door, do you puddin :)

Back on topic, didn’t see anything new, still just high level overview but doesn’t look like any formal charges.
