Range Day is the best part of SHOT Show for me. The noise of gunfire ensures I don’t have to maintain long conversations, I get to shoot new guns, and I don’t even have to provide the ammo. It’s always the highlight of my trip, which means it’s all up hill from here.

Range Day this year was a little smaller and a lot quieter, in more ways than one. First, there seemed to be fewer people, which is great because lines suck. It’s also quieter because everyone is making suppressors, including companies like Hi-Point and Lyman. After walking up and down the range, here are the five best things I saw . . .

Ambient Arms suppresor was really cool, I touched it after a mag dump. It was hot, but not hot enough to burn.

Hey! I've been to Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club several times. It's a hot place to shoot, especially in the summer. But it can be pretty cool in the winter.

I had a great weekend in Las Vegas! We played our gig at Gilley's on Friday and Saturday night to capacity crowds. Saturday morning I went out to the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club to shoot a bunch of 10-10-10 drills. I don't even remember how many I shot but I took a bunch of pictures and video so that I can get heckled by the class. I had a 25 yard bay all to myself. This is good and this is bad. Have shot a lot of their ammo, all has been good stuff.

Would have to agree. If that’s the best of the show, I’d be really disappointed to have spent money to travel and stay the week. Where’s the new stuff from the “big” makers?
