that storm in 93 came through jax fl as a baby winter hurricane type event, blew out power
i was stationed ships company on USS Saratoga, winds blew so hard the she stretched out the power cables , and they broke or froze,,, and the gangway fell into the harbor
frid duty was stuck on board until sunday, as the yard birds couldnt get a crane on the pier from the winds...
i arrived sunday for duty to a dark COLD asssss ship and had to stand watch
power out at the house, momma and kid freezing it was the shiiiit show, WE were vastly unprepared at the naval station... every body just said oh a storm... is coming close a few doors

I remember that storm. I was in Marine Corps Security Forces at the time, stationed just a little north of you at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base at the time. A lot of the posts we had to man were outside. It was cold!

I don't reload, lost too much of my right side with the stroke.

I had two ischemic strokes in 2020 that took my Left side field of vision. They call it LHH (Left Homonymous Hemianopsia (LHH) is a neurological condition where a person loses the left half of the visual field in both eyes.

I remember that storm. I was in Marine Corps Security Forces at the time, stationed just a little north of you at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base at the time. A lot of the posts we had to man were outside. It was cold!

While I was not CONUS for 93, it was still quite cold in Korea. I volunteered to go support the Team Spirit Joint training exercises at the port in Busan. Those ships with those vehicles on them did nothing to protect the vehicles from the cold. The diesel in the tanks was so cold it turned to gelatin. We made a whole fleet of ether babies just to get them on the rail head so we could send them north. Burned up starters left and right. Swapping starters on 2-1/2s and 5tons and HMMWVs while freezing to death was rough. Hard to turn wrenches with those bulky *** cold weather gloves w/liners.

i got run out of the turn basin right not far from the sub pen
i had no idea we were that close, just anchored .. mrs baot and i were having a nice lunch,, up rolls navy and civ police... hey you FREEZE

I was once standing post on top of the sub wharfs, with a mounted Ma Deuce. We had a security alert when a party boat/cruise boat ignored warnings and I was ordered to rack the M2 twice, thus loading it. Turns out it was some Admiral taking some dignitaries on his own guided tour! Admirals don't get in trouble, but they can get their behinds chewed by higher! lol It was at that same wharf where I thought I was going to get in big trouble one time. I had to butt stroke a fat Navy Chief right in his belly during a security alert with a Mossberg 590 shotgun. Anytime a real security alert went down, all civilian and Navy personnel knew the long standing order of hitting the deck. Anyone not Marine Corps Security Force personnel who were standing were considered "bad guys", and were "put" on the ground. I thought for sure I would get in trouble for that one, but not a word was said (at least to me).

I assume that those little asterisks displaced the word "***." Are you implying that qualifies as "foul language?" I thought this was a sight where we were all adults over 21. What is the deal with the "foul language" rule and is there a list of what you qualify as such? I was not a sailor but I can make one blush on occasion when the situation calls for it. This might be a big enough issue for me that I exit. I do not like being censored.
