3 inch EMP Ronin had to have warranty work

Dben002

Alpha
Gun came with one 9 round mag.
would have up to 3 FTF's with each 9 round load of JHP's
Tried 4 different brands..(Hornady ftx, Winchester ranger, Federal Punch, and Federal HST.
mag seemed tight and follower seems to want to stick.
So returned it for a look see.

Anyone have experience with Springfield warranty work...
are they somewhat prompt, or do they take months...
thanks.....

They received mine on April 3 at 8:27am
Sent an email to the warranty email address on April 11 asking for a status update.
Have not been given the courtesy of a response.
Not feeling real good about this.

I use FedEx as well for firearms, if it shipped today, chances are you will have it Saturday as in most cases, here as well, they deliver on Saturday. Remember, they need a signature. Your location may vary.

yes I know...just hope they can alert me within a day as I have to be here to sign for it...one day at home waiting is not a problem but having to be here all day multiple days would be a problem.

It seems like the 3" EMP line was never designed from the get go to feed defensive ammo. I went through the same nightmare and had to return it to the mothership for the exact same work. When I first purchased mine new last year, I immediately cleaned and lubed it. When I went to my Agency range for qual and to add to my approved file, the staff was not impressed during initial inspection. They advised me that, without a doubt, this EMP model was not capable of firing more than 2 rounds of Hornady Critical Def, Fed HST or Winchester LE without chocking up. They said it was designed for ball ammo only. I hoped that they were wrong. Unfortunately, they were pretty much correct. Frustrating time on the line with this pistol. Later in the afternoon, I was introduced to a few other EMP owners who went through the same experience. All had to be returned to mothership.

Now that you got it returned, it should function fine, until you take it apart for cleaning. You will find that the extractor is such a tight fit that a tool will be required for removal. When you put the extractor back in, you may find that the tension adjustment is so fragile that any attempt to use pressure to insert it may bring you back to square one as far as reliability goes.

Why remove the extractor?

I guess I have been lucky with this 2017 build EMP 3, hundreds of rounds, no issues. I run it clean, wet and often. Great carry unit. OP, I’m in hopes you get a unit like this to make a carry unit for yourself.

Why remove the extractor?

My older EMP has been flawless-I’m betting it was at least partially a mag issue
I somewhat tend to agree with you but the mother ship said nothing about the mag that came with the gun.
I ordered and received 2 additional mags for the Ronin and the follower's in the new ones sit a wee bit taller
than the one that came with the gun. Will just have to see how it runs when I get it back which is supposed to
be Monday according to FedEx but you know how that goes........
