Supposedly this guy had a diagnosed mental illness. So how did he not only get the gun, but how did he have a Nevada concealed carry permit ?
For at least four, their best is behind them.I wish the best for those affected...
Huh? For you was i supposed to add more to my comment? For at least four, their best is behind them.
What is this comment supposed to accomplish?
It’s on the 4473 and the FBI, who conducts the BGC, certainly has access to records from the LVPD, who issued 2 protective orders against him. Nevada has red flag laws too.How would a background check turn this up if not disclosed on an application? There's no "central registry" of medical records they could check (thankfully).
How are we sure he had been diagnosed with any mental issues before receiving a CWP, and how would we be sure that they were properly disclosed by the applicant?with mental issues he should not have been allowed to purchase a firearm in Nevada and drive to New York
People can lie on the 4473, and not every protective order is entered in NICS. The FBI is only doing a NICS check + fingerprint ID verification - nothing more. It’s on the 4473 and the FBI, who conducts the BGC, certainly has access to records from the LVPD, who issued 2 protective orders against him. I could spend ten minutes explaining to you why you’re wrong, but I don’t feel like it. I’ll give you a hint though. Have your wife get a restraining order against you and then go do a BGC via NICS at your local gun store and tell us how it went.People can lie on the 4473, and not every protective order is entered in NICS. That only works IF the restraining order is entered into the system (same with domestic violence convictions).I could spend ten minutes explaining to you why you’re wrong, but I don’t feel like it. Remember this? https://abcnews.go.com/US/air-force-failed-report-texas-suspects-convictions-fbi/story?id=50969640
Here's the instructions for the respective agency that must manually enter the order into the system - it's not automatic: https://site.utah.gov/dps-tac/wp-content/uploads/sites/38/2017/10/Protection-Order.pdf
The FBI itself estimated that 34% of protective orders, etc. never got entered/correctly entered in NCIC: https://www.ojp.gov/pdffiles1/bjs/grants/249864.pdf
If you're done boot licking, maybe we can have a real conversation on how ineffective this approach is.
I mean... I guess you could tweet about it if it made you felt better.Huh? For you was i supposed to add more to my comment?
