First its me, not you....I just dont understand Archery people. I get the challenge-thats cool and I get that it extends the seaon-OK fine and I can appreciate the talent and practice to become proficient; BUT what I dont get is the guys that will drop $5000.oo on a crossbow but buy the cheapest rifle (as in sub $400) for gun season then say bore sight this scope cuz Im going huntin' tomorrow and when you tell them bore sighting isnt SIGHTING it in, they say itll be fine.

Again its me thats confused. I have two crossbows one is a Barnett that I use for sentry removal

The other is repro of a really old design that I keep around for Vampires. (everybody laughs until theyve been bit, then its no laughing matter)

Its meeeee, I know..... next we can talk about muzzle loaders who use inline guns with plastic stocks, 209 primers, scopes and suppressors....

If you dont believe in Vampires, think again. Ive had a few face to face encounters. One was a blood sucking EX wife but Im not really sure that counts because she was an illegal alien from the planet Uranus but the other encounter was for sure a real Vampire.

I remember it very clearly. I woke up one night to find a real Vampire standing next to my bed. Thankfully I was prepared. I swatted at him with my Bible and grabbed the wooden stake that I keep with the Bible. I staked him and he fell to the floor under my bed. When I got out of bed to be sure he was dead, he had turned into dust right under my bed.
 
My neighbor recently purchased a handgun but hasn't gone out shooting with it yet due to his hours as a delivery man. A friend of his came over with his bow and arrows to show him how to have some fun in his own back yard. They fixed it up with several wood boards, a stack of hay and a small table to hold everything else. My neighbor turned out to be a very good archer and went and bought his own (with all kinds off pulleys on it) and said he was having a lot of fun with it, he extended his course the full width of his property. He also said He liked archery better as he can reuse the arrows, rather then having to buy more expensive ammunition.
 
At a young age , my oldest B-I-L gave me a fiberglass recurve 35LB bow. I practiced and practiced with that bow. Got pretty good. Good enough to hit a bullfrog at 10 to 20 feet. After several years I bought a 50 LB recurve to hunt deer with. Went several times but didn't get a shot. Then work got in the way . and then there were to cars and cams and hedders , and Holley carbs and etc.... Oh yeah , there were to girls too. Hehehe
 
Now prices have become asinine. I say that as someone who expects to be shooting game at about 25 yards max on a bad day. If 80 yards is the goal perhaps it takes $1800. I’ll never know.

Still hunting with a bow is awesome. Challenging, fun, quite and you get more in tune with your surroundings . Ever try turkey hunting with a bow? They have these awesome Swat Chopper Broadheads.

I have a PSE compound bow and love it. Been shooting bow just as long as a rifle ( 5-6 years old) .
 
Happened across the show, Alone, and those poor folks get 9 arrows and a traditional recurve to survive in the boonies.

I suppose it’s a good post-apocalypse skill to have.
