Yoob...yes it is. .45ACP is low penetration and low capacity. But it still keals. Here is the scoop...see where .45 ACP fits in.

Here are the final Uline catalog ammo penetration tests. Can't post them all. Too long so I cut out all rimfire and some of the rest. Test procedure: 12 inches of Uline catalogs were stacked and put in a cardboard box to test bullet penetration. Catalogs changed every 2 to 6 shots. Measurements made with a probe to rear of bullet.

I read everything I see...never know when you might pick up something new. This felt like an AI article to me as it lacked Ayoob's usual personality. But in the end, I agree with everything he says. My dad is 86 years old and still can rack the slide without effort just by cocking it first. People carp endlessly about capacity...but frankly, in most situations you run out of time before you run out of bullets. Nine rounds of .45 ACP on tap is so many that I actually use a Wilson Combat 7 round magazine because they are so reliable! The Scandium Smith and Wesson Commander size gets the nod for carry. But range guns are Les Baer and Springfield Armory.

well, this was quite the promotion piece... but hey, I'm not complaining. I'm glad to read anything about 45s. I love mine. I know they have come a long way in 9mm ammunition design, but I still feel the .45 is superior it's ability to stop an attacker. I am a big proponent of hitting what I aim at and don't need 16+ rounds to do the job. The "spray and pray" aiming system just doesn't work for me. If I am in so deep that I can't fix the issue within 1-4 shots I'm in over my head no matter what I am carrying.
My first .45 was the S&W 4506. Lots of trigger creep, but it would eat anything I put in it and was sweet to shoot. Then I bought a 4516 (compact version of the 4506). Okay, too heavy for concealed carry. Today I own three more .45s... Sig P220 elite, Kimber Aegis (1911), and a Ruger 1911. First thing I did on those 1911s was toss the magazines and buy quality ones which made a world of difference in their reliability. The 1911s need to be swabbed out every 100rnd or they start giving you hang-ups. ... okay, I can live with that. I wouldn't take a 1911 to war with me (might take my P220. It's not a 1911 but it is a .45!).. but other than that... I love them. To be honest, I carry a compact 9mm just because it's such a small platform. I don't have a lot of faith in the 9mm's stopping power but I have faith in my ability to hit what I am aiming at... I suppose that is really what matters.
