Chamber Safety Flags

The indoor range I used to got to has 9 lanes and 2 RO, they watch you like a hawk, don’t like that, told the one to mind his own business when he kept looking what I had in my range bag, came up behind me and kept looking over my shoulder, after I told him that he said he is checking for firearms, told him you seen where I put my gun at, it’s laying on the pistol case that I purchased from your pro shop and you watched me take it out, freakin idiot

I used to till I got my CCL. I think I have a few lingering some where. There’s one range (outside range) that does cease fires and I still don’t use it. Personally every range I go to doesn’t question but I also don’t advertise either.

Hi,

I would tend to agree that most folks in Texas have a bit more common sense than most folks in some other places. I think Texans must raise their kids better. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I'm thinking Robert Duvall said all there is to say about people from Texas in the movie Geronimo.
While I have friends there, I have no use the Texas

You guys go to public ranges ? Ewww.

For majority of population, they don't own large property , or within easy distance of quasi wilderness to be able to randomly shoot in the countryside. They have to shoot at " Ranges " .

" Ranges " break down into two broad categories. Commercial Ranges ( pay by hour , etc ) . Typically will have divided firing points , and some form of target retrieval system , such that each shooter can do their own thing ,at their own pace . Typical rules are " cased, except when in your stall / booth " .

Or actual Club - Clubs . ( Not commercial operations that call an annual or semi - annual fee a " membership " , but a non profit operation mutually owned by the members , for their mutual benefit .

These , will typically have a fixed firing line with one to 100 firing points , and a fixed backstop .

With 1-4 firing points , and not vary busy , it can be quite informal.

Bigger / busier Clubs will have a long list of Range Rules , established by a Rules Committee .They will also have frequently Official Range Officers , and fixed schedules for Ceasefires . Say every 30 or60 minutes

And in significant. Minority, require ECI 's .

Do 90% of members feel they're necessary for universal use ? Probably not . But if they don't, they'll be ejected from the Range , and potentially have $$ membership revoked .

You should carry a few dummy grenades in your range bag. You'll know he's been peeking when he flips out! :ROFLMAO:

well....many of us are not lucky to have yardage distance from our neighbors...

i "could" shoot in my yard, however, i am not certain the neighbors would appreciated that, as well as the law, as it's know here as "discharging a firearm in public/confined spaces".

i don't know the fines, or other penalties, and care not to find out.

i'm too old, and i won't nap right in a 6x6 cell with Bubba

I used to shoot out back year ago. There are plenty of reasons ( for me ) not to shoot here anymore. I belong to a gun club 8 miles down the road.

both places i go to are inside...club...2 miles away, range 20 miles.

the state own outdoor range is 45 miles away, beautiful well kept place too.

but i only take at the most, 2 boxes of ammo, and i cannot justify the miles/time driven for all of maybe 30 minutes of shooting.

other places that are indoor/outdoor combo clubs in my state even though a tiny state, are expensive, or time controlled opening too late in the day for me...one place wants $500 for 1 year membership, but it is a beautiful place with a huge dining room, and chefs......condos, and a golf course...........too rich for me....i is a po' boy from da hood....

you and a few others have "some luck" over people like me for sure.

Yes I know. This conversation is one we've had around here a great many times. My comment was meant to be off the cuff/humorous.

All the ranges at my club are outdoors and private. And it's affordable. Especially since I don't pay anything. I know I'm lucky, but I can't see myself shooting at an indoor range. A lot of the stuff I do on the range is already "Sketchy" and almost totally dependent on no one else being there.

yeah, i took your comment as a joke.

but for the benefit of the many new people here, i explained maybe not only my sistautions, but maybe that of a few others.

one thing i do from time to time is "shop" for ranges in other states i still have an interest in, in the event we move..

like the state of NV as one example.

FL has so many, its unbelievable.

If I'm going to the range, I always have one in the gun just as a visual general courtesy to others. I never presume the other guy has safe gun handling practices and he doesn't know if I do. I'm sure anyone who has worked a range can tell you "Ooops" stories.

When I worked for them in Phoenix AZ I got a S&W Model 10 revolver.

I don't miss working for them either.
I actually didn't mind working for G4S because they stuck me on a night Roving guard position.

I drove all over El Paso County checking utilities infrastructure.

I wrote up a schedule so that I would check every site on the list at least once every week but I had enough freedom of movement that if I was in eastern El Paso County and field supervisor got on the radio and he was in eastern El Paso County I could turn around and go to Western El Paso County or vice versa as the circumstances dictated anytime I wanted.

It was more dealing with Good For  S**t that drove me nuts.
