Yep, I've seen that more than once. I had a 3" lift put on my Suburban and some nice 36" wheels. I did buy the matching spare and put it into rotation. The first flat I got, I had to very embarrassingly call a tow truck. The 3" lift with the oversized wheels put my jack about 1/2" too short to get the spare onto the truck in place of the flat.
One time I had a flat on a mid-70's Mercury (My high school 1st car ever). I get it jacked up, take off the flat, got the spare out of the trunk and I let it bounce a bit when I set it down... the damn thing bumps the car and the car DROPS ON THE SPARE & THE SCISSOR JACK COLLAPSED!Yep, I've seen that more than once. I had a similar occurrence. 71 Monte Carlo with a bumper jack. Whoever thought that creation up was only a micro-tad smarter than I am. I say that only because I was stupid enough to use something invented by an obvious idiot. Anyone here that remembers what a bumper jack is knows exactly what happened! One time I had a flat on a mid-70's Mercury (My high school 1st car ever). The only thing that saved me was I had my CB in my car and I hollered out to my pals, and yelped for help. After that, I started keeping a bottle jack, a smallish-sized floor jack, and a pair of jack stands in the car trunk or my truck's gangbox. I'll roast in hell before I let that happen again!

I'd sooner use a railroad jack than a bumper jack! It can lift 25 tons easy, it weighs 100 pounds or so; it aint gonna collapse, fold or slide, the only drawback is how freaking heavy they are.I had a similar occurrence. 71 Monte Carlo with a bumper jack. Farm jack/high lift jack. We always referred to them as high lift jacks. You see a lot of off-roaders carrying them.Farm jack/ sheep herder jack. It’s like a bumper jack on steroids. I have two of them. I use them for jacking up joists mostly. I carry a legitimate floor Jack in the truck box.
