Yeah that's what I liked about Mel Gibson in Braveheart. He had a proper kilt.
As for me, I just ordered some clothing online from a Scots store, in my favorite tartan ('cuz I was in the Army):

I remember Mel doing an interview bout the Braveheart movie. He asked one of the rough looking extras what he wore underneath his kilt, the man replied your wife's lipstick.
