Many years ago my wife and I talked my M-n-L in to going out on the boat with use one evening. It got late (dark) and we were just idling along the river enjoying the sounds and the breeze. Now you must know how deathly afraid my M-n-L was of the water, boats, and her perceived bad things that could happen to people out on the water after dark. I'm sure that was in her mind when a gigantic shrimp jumped out of the water and over the gunnel of my outboard boat, a 22' WA cabin at that time, and hit her smack on the side of her face. I've never been cussed out like that by anyone, much less a woman all the while swearing I threw that shrimp on her to scare her. Neither I nor my wife could convince her that it was common for shrimp to jump like that at night because the lights on board attract them. Sometime later we finally convinced her it was a real thing, said she forgave me, but she never did go boating with us again if we planned to be out after dark.
