Do You Need Disaster Currency?

Been collecting gold and silver since the early 80's .... Between that and barter items. I'm good

Reminds me of a old guy who was asked what 3 he needed once.
1. Food and water
2. Smokes
3. Guns and ammo .... Incase you need to get 1 and 2

I often think about items for bartering in a post-SHTF incident.

Slightly off topic, there was an article years ago … can’t recall where I read it, but it was about post-collapse considerations for preparation. It has stuck with me. Basically, and in no particular order, when things go bad and then bad to worse,

Goons gonna grab a guys:
Gas
Guns
Gold
Gals
Gear
Grub
Grog
Ganja

In a complete grid down situation, you're only going to last as long as your meds

I know I'm replying to myself

The only Med that I take that I think might actually kill me if I stop taking it is an extremely low dose of metoprolol.

I'm on a really low dose of apixaban and I can replace that with Aspirin.

I live here. That is actually our first defense. All of my neighbors have rifle ranges on their property.

The Lord Humongous is going to have to get through a bunch of people with guns before he gets here.

ETA just living out here requires some preparedness.

Just our basic pantry would look like Doomsday prepping to people who live in the city.

We keep probably more than a month's worth of our medications on hand.

We keep livestock (chickens) if we rationed it to the USDA 2000 calories a day, we could probably survive on the eggs indefinitely.

Most importantly for us, we have a backup power source and a back of heating system. Actually our furnace is our back up heating system.

Bottom line is we're pretty well set up
