Having grown up back east in W. PA and was stationed in N. MN for a few years I saw ticks back there 12 months of the year even with snow on the ground.Maybe at your locale, not in Ohio. They remain thick and hearty until a couple of hard freezes.
My ex has been in the vet biz for over 20 years. Around here, ticks are active year-round outside. In the winter one can find them on long grass UNDER the snowpack, moving just like in summer. Hence the flea & tick meds are recommended year-round for dogs by her clinic....Having grown up back east in W. PA and was stationed in N. MN for a few years I saw ticks back there 12 months of the year even with snow on the ground.
Fortunately I escaped to the Interior West where summer heat, the lack of humidity and grassy vegetation curing out knocks our ticks (we only have one species compared to the several in the east) out in the mid-late summer, until the following spring.
You ain’t from ‘round here are ya? I grew up hearing them called that. Southern thing I’m thinking (or at least a “country boy” sayingWhere???
