good day at the range

Hi,

just came back from the club, only spent just under an hour..took the HK, VP-9, and many of you know, its a GREAT gun...i put it up there with my CZ's (as far as 9mm's go.......

i took 50 rounds of my reloads, and i NEVER max out the charge, i always reload to just UNDER max, for MY safety....

here is the 1st pic, using MY reloads.

now, this second pic, is 50 rounds of Fiocchi 9mm, i forgot the grain, but i could certainly "feel" the difference in power, and as you can see, i have a "few shots" below the target, but otherwise, all others hit with-in the target circles

now, if yall 'scuse me.......

i got real manly things to do......

like the laundry......

Nice work! On the targets AND the reloads. ;)

My VP9 has been a workhorse for me. But it's soon to lose it's #1 position in my carry rotation to my Mod.3 with Holosun. These old eyes, ya know?

Thank you for your indulgence,

yeah you know what..??

i am seriously considering getting rid of a few guns that just do not match the same resilts as the VP 9, and my CZ's (again, only talking about 9mm's)

my 1911's and other 45's are in a different class, so they are not involved in the soon to be, culling of the herd.

and my revolvers as well are not in this culling of the firearms thought process.

imma gonna have to take 1 gun at a time, 1 box of ammo, preferably my reloads, and give them each 1 last time to give me great results...........as the above gun.

I'm going to keep my VP9. It shoots really well. As long as I can use my special (Top Focal) shootin' glasses, it will be great for the local bowling pin shoot and stuff like that.

Ya know how your closet gets so full that there's just no room for new clothes unless you get rid of some old clothes? My "gun closet" is just about in that condition, so I have to make a decision. For now, I'm just going to try and NOT buy anything else for a while. That will give me time to decide if I want a bigger safe. If I do not get a bigger safe then I'll have to start conisdering the fact that I have to give up something old in order to have room for something new. So many guns, too little time. ;) I guess I shouldn't complain. There are some folks out there who have to collect EVERY Glock that's ever been made.

I was just thinking, maybe I can have the VP9 slide milled for an optic, or just buy an new slide for it. Then I can use an optic on it and keep it in the carry rotation. Hmmm. 🤔

well...i don't have a gun closet......but i do have a "water" closet...???

anyway, i have more room that carter has liver ills, for more guns.

its just that i can shoot quite a few and have great results, compared to others that give me so-so results, with me knowing full well, i can hit the target much better.......then second guess my skill-set.

better to rid myself of the ones that just give me, so-so results.

although, some would argue/debate, that we all have good days and bad days at the range.

it's been nearly 2 weeks of any shooting, and i had such results today..??

i dunno, just the way i feel about performance from certain guns....(my 9mm's at least)

You don't keep your guns in there, do you? ;)

I'm still looking around for a bigger safe. The right deal on the right unit will come along, eventually.

I have found that some of my collection is very easy to shoot well and others I have to work harder at it. I'm sure it's just me, getting reacquainted with the peculiarities of a particular gun I haven't shot for a while.

I try to practice every week. But the one time I took a week off, I came back after two weeks and really shot well (for me). I dunno, maybe I needed a break. Maybe I took the right guns out that week. I'm not sure. No matter. I'm working toward consistency across all platforms, all calibers. Maybe I need to take better notes on the performance of each firearm, and reference the notes if it's been a while since that gun has been to the range. Nah, I'm not that organized. :p

Anyway, keep up the good work. I'll keep plugging along too.

Almost 2 month hiatus for the range with the grand wizard @SimonRL till today. Work trips, vacay, etc..
Not bad for FRT’s on sub guns, sighting in and some pistol work at 10-15yrds. FRT did give some fits. Had an issue with the shorty sub gun and the suppressor. It went flying. Luckily only end cap smudge. Will be getting a .45 suppressor for that sbr🤯😠😬😬. Means I have to buy another suppressor. Hows that go…. “Oh drat” 😉
Frt’s burn ammo quick 😁

i  all my 1911's, from the inexpensive Tisas G'ment model, to the higher dollar Dan Wesson's, to my most expensive, revolver the Korth Mongoose 6" barrel, 357/38 special.....

i was actually talking to an acquaintance this morning in fact about my "gun collection"..

he said how many guns do you need?

he went on to say, you have 1- 9MM, 1-38, 1-45.....

i said it's like this, people "collect" baseball cards, baseball caps, beer steins, comic books, etc, etc.

it's just another "collectable thing" for some of us.

many things that are "collectable", either hold thier value, or increase in value as they age, we have all seen older Colts, go for big dollars.

i sorta liken the gun collection(s) of mine, to like riding/owning a Harley Davidson...sure it's a bike, an expensive one, but if it has to be explained, no one would ever "get it"

for the record, i never owned nor ridden a Harley, i don't have that kind of wallet.
I need as many guns as I can buy.

Excellent! Not too many strays at all, even with the FRT. :) It's been a while since you've inspired me with your excellent marksmanship. :D Nice shootin'.

I have an FRT for my TX22. I'll get around to it one of these days.

This was my last trip to the range. I did some horse trading for a brand new HellCat Pro. I got the pistol and 5 15 rd magazines and I only had $275 in the guns I traded for the HellCat. I put an optic on it with my eyes I can’t see iron sights anymore. 1st shot was a little high and right made the adjustment and put 28 more in the same ragged hole. The shot that low left I pulled. This was at Chestnut Mountain shooting range which is kept up by the National Forest. There are a lot of people from Atlanta that comes to this outside range. Pistol side and rifle side can be shot out to 100 yards. I took the target down and brought it back to take a picture. I didn’t want to hold everyone up of me taking pictures of my target. That’s 2 mags of 115gr WWB. It got boring so I started shooting clothes pin that were used to hold the target to the plastic fence used for holding the target.

Looks great! I need to get back to shoot, but a bit hesitant since couple of weeks ago when I went to fire rifles, they had started their upgrade construction on the pistol side so only 5 lanes available until they’re done. Probably give it a shot next week to see how far they’ve gotten. I should shoot my .45s too, but I have a suppressor begging to be tried on my CZ Shadow 2 Carry that I dropped a threaded barrel into (with 200 trouble free rounds so far).

But that looks like a GREAT range day - and finding ammo in your price range is always a huge plus!
