Possible DS 1911 Mag issue.

Recently purchased an Alpha Foxtrot Romulus. Have about 800 rounds through it with zero issues. Absolute dream to shoot. Only issue I have found is with the magazine or possibly the feed ramp I’m not sure. Once I rack a round and take the mag out a round falls out after I remove the mag. Theres still a round in the chamber and this loose round fell out of the mag. It happens to both the 17 and 20 round mag. Both are Checkmate mags. Came with the gun. Thanks for the help!

Ya I’m gonna try a few different ones. They are just so expensive for this type of gun. A buddy of mine thinks it might be the extractor getting to it too early.

Try this place for some decent pricing on quality magazines…quick delivery too. I’ve only ordered once so far, but was impressed the four magazines came in a box instead of an envelope (usually beat up by USPS along the way). The only difference in the magazines I ordered here and the ones I ordered from Staccato were the branding on the bottom of the base plate…well, and $10.05 cheaper PER MAGAZINE from this site.

I had a Kimber that used to do that. When I called Kimber they said that was normal---I got rid of the gun.

Normal in the 2011 platform, especially with full mags and stiff springs. The underside of the slide is pulling the next round forward. Won't cause any problem during normal function of the gun.

I have yet to reach out to them. So far one person says it’s a normal issue with the platform but won’t affect how the gun runs.

How many of yours have either very tight or extra-power mag springs, and how often are you inserting a full mag, chambering a round, then dropping the mag?

That's the specific scenario here, caused by the higher upward pressure on the top round in a now -1 capacity state.

Each round you fire after that, the pressure is slightly less, and the top round less likely to have been pulled forward.

These are metal double stack mags correct? And this occurs with 1 to 2 mags left in the mags?. Take them apart and see if something may be causing the follower to hang up under recoil in the funnel area of the mag. Without having one in front of me that's all I got. Good luck

I had a Kimber that used to do that. When I called Kimber they said that was normal---I got rid of the gun.

Kimber’s are known for that, they need at least 500 rounds through them to break them in due to the tight tolerance they have

No, it's occurring with full mags and "-1" mags after chambering a round. It's friction.
