Hey gang,
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. While all the girls were at the fair today, I was able to slip away to the range for more fun with my long barreled 9mm pistols. I went to the closer old school range and got my favorite lane.
I did all my shooting at 10 yards today. My main focus was to get the Holosun zeroed again since it came loose last time while riding on the Echelon 4.5F Comp. I also put 50 more rounds through the Echelon 5.28 Threaded, XDM Elite Precision 5.25, and Glock 17L.
I shot mostly the PPU 124 grain ammo but, just for fun, also brought along a box of the Norma MHP hollow points. I have a few boxes of this that are about five years old and wanted to send some downrange today. I began the session with the Echelon 4.5F Comp and its Holosun 507C-X2 green dot. I turned off the circle and used just the dot today. I used my backpack as a rest but the dot had drifted to the left.
I would shoot five rounds, adjust, shoot five more, repeat as necessary. I thought this was close enough.
My poor backpack has a bit of muzzle blast GSR on it now.
I tried a few 10-shot strings freestanding, two hand grip.
The next 10-shot string was about the same. The last string got really wonky.
Sure enough, the optic had come loose again. I put this pistol away and plan to clean the threads and screws and re-torque it with some fresh Loc-tite. Next up is the Echelon 5.28 Threaded, shooting 20-shot strings without my special Top-Focal shooting glasses.
Well, that's not too terrible for an old guy with cataract surgery. For the next 20-shot string I will use my special glasses.
Hmm, not a lot of difference. Maybe I should just get used to a fuzzy sight picture. It's good to practice without my Top-Focal glasses because I won't be able to use them in an emergency situation anyway, unless I run into a very patient and polite bad guy. I sent out my favorite target so I could chew out the bullseye with the E5.28.
Well that's a little disappointing. I think I can do better. Let's patch up the target and try one more 10-shot string with this pistol.
Well, I guess that's a little better. Moving on, here's a 20-shot string through the XDM Elite Precision 5.25.
Drat. I wish I could at least keep them all in the black. Those Texas boys are not going to be happy with me. Here's another 20-shot string.
Well that's not too terrible, only a couple outside the 10 ring. Glam shot?
Now let's try this pistol on my favorite target.
Bah. I shot this string a little faster and got a little more spread. Let's move on to the Glock G17L and its 6" barrel. I think I'm getting used to the trigger on this one. I think I want to change the sights though. I have a set of TruGlo for it but haven't installed them yet.
Guh. You'd have to give me a generous line break to say they're all in the black. Let's try that again.
