This is sad to hear since S&W are the only brand of revolvers I own.
It is sad that this and most manufacturers are more concerned with board of directors' profits, and the consumer has been forced into their quality control.
Having a lifetime warranty is great, but it should not be used for poor workmanship.

I love S&W revolvers and have been collecting them for close to 50 years. As much as it saddens me to say it, the company has gone to crap. Beginning with that damned lock in 2001, things have just gotten worse. Worst of all, QC has gone straight down the toilet. far too many guns are having to go back to the company for issues that should never have left the factory. I only own one S&W revolver made in the current century and its a notable no lock exception.

This is sad to hear. Have been thinking about "upgrading" my 442 that I've had for years to the Ultimate Carry version but maybe not now.
