The most accurate of all my semi-auto pistols has been my custom SA 1911. It started life as a Loaded model, but all the internals were replaced, including the barrel and bushing. This eventually became the benchmark to measure all my other pistols against to judge accuracy.
From what I gathered.
1794: Springfield, MA "Begun as a major arsenal by General George Washington early in the Revolutionary War, the first national armory began manufacturing muskets in 1794." http://www.nps.gov/spar/
1974: Springfield Inc. Geneseo, IL "In 1974 Robert Reese acquired the Springfield Armory name..." http://www.springfield-armory.com/index.shtml
Top: My Rem R1 enhanced in .45 and bottom: My Rem R1 Limited in 9mm. Both are IDPA comp guns, I shoot CDP with the .45 and ESP with the 9mm. I also shoot SSP with an XDM 5.25 in 9mm. Always loved Springfields but when I met these Remington's it was like they were made for me! ...until I fall in love with the next ones! LOL!
