What are you doing right now??

Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia are a dirty trick. My Dad died with Alzheimer's in 1992, but it was brain cancer that ultimately killed him, quickly. I thought that was a blessing. My Mom lived to 98, but the last year she hardly knew where she was. The thing that keeps occurring to me is the tremendous toll it takes on the caregivers.
My Mom ( almost made it to 93) had dementia the last 6-7 yrs. and the last 4 yrs before she passed this week last year didn't remember me anymore.

Throw in the Covid :poop:-rap from 2020-last yr made things very difficult.

Just spent about a half hour watching a Green Heron hunting off a tree that fell in the river this spring. We sure get some freaky looking birds around here.

I saw a Great Blue Heron across one of our local BIG ponds last evening on my walk.

If anyone sees an injured one stay away from any of them since their defensive response id to go for the eyes, and they're very very quick when they do a strike.

I have some issues going on right now which I am not really comfortable talking about yet. It doesn't have to do with my parents, although I have, out of necessity, tasked myself with stepping up my game looking after them since my sister ( who is literally 6 miles away from them- I am 40 miles out) is clearly not going to. I will likely talk about it after we have more answers, but it's fair to say I am worried and scared.

Life is a bitch sometimes.
I hear you, my friend.

So we have a pair of green herons. They are almost certainly nesting nearby and the downed tree and debris will be a good spot to watch for them until they head south in late October. We have blue herons, egrets and all sorts of birds here, but I have never seen a green heron until now. Hopefully we will be seeing some babies soon.

Put the finishing touches on a quick batch of pasta sauce......
Used some of the starter batch that I'd frozen, added three and quarter pounds of ground beef, diced peppers and onions, season salt, pureed garlic, diced tomatoes, garlic and herb crushed tomatoes, and two different bottled sauces, and three bay leaves.......
Also cooked over a pound of Angel Hair pasta......
great minds think alike. Did something similar with Bison today and slightly diff sauce components, but did make angel hair (rice based) to go with it. Did I say cheese - why yes - added that too. Pasta needs cheese, always.

Mrs Greener is driving me to my first outpatient physical therapy appointment. I will be stylish in my brand new, stretchy gym shorts and compression socks. Working on strategy to get her to buy me a nice lunch afterward. Should I use the pained abused victim approach, or the steely eyed stoic routine? This is new territory.
