My Mom ( almost made it to 93) had dementia the last 6-7 yrs. and the last 4 yrs before she passed this week last year didn't remember me anymore.Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia are a dirty trick. My Dad died with Alzheimer's in 1992, but it was brain cancer that ultimately killed him, quickly. I thought that was a blessing. My Mom lived to 98, but the last year she hardly knew where she was. The thing that keeps occurring to me is the tremendous toll it takes on the caregivers.
