well, i was just making the wife and i tonight's dinner ahead of time, we will be having sandwiches, and i had to cook up the makings.

then, like i always expect THIS to happen.....but WHEN WILL IT HAPPEN......

all 3 rear hall smoke detectors went off..

now, i did not burn any food, no, the others that live in the other apartments did not burn anything.

these blasted GOD #*&*#^%@*#@&! foolish things just decided to "make me crane my neck straight up to watch the red blinking light", cuz none of them had done this in a few weeks now, so "lets do it today"....

the red blinking light is the working light or on duty light, and the constant green light is the power light from the electrical system.

so yeah, of course, all detectors in the house, are mounted on the ceilings.

all frigging 40 of them.

but at least, i knew which zone was blasting the alarm.

climbing stairs is no fun with my dear friend Arthur Itis in my knees, and i had go up and down a total of 4 flights of them.

life is good, life is grand..sometimes life sucks, and you get a hurting neck...and painful knee's

Found out from my son this morning that a good job he had lined up with the USPS has fallen through. Because he has not lived in the US for the past 5 years straight, he can't get the job without certain documentation. He was given 72 hours to get it, but he needs if from the Dutch government. He was informed that the documentation needed from them would take about 4 weeks to come through. He has only been back in the US for less than two years. He lived in Amsterdam and earned his Master's Degree while going to school there. He and I are kinda bummed out about this right now.

Because it is a government job requiring background checks, he has to prove what he was doing living overseas within the last 5 years. He needs documentation from The Netherlands proving he was attending the university over there. He just can't come up with that paperwork in less than 72 hours for this particular job offer. He will eventually get the paper work, but this job will already have been filled. I can understand it. You really don't just want anybody working for the government who has been overseas for years. Especially if they had been living in a hostile country.

Maybe as it relates to espionage or something. That’s a bummer, but maybe that wasn’t the one for him. Now he knows the document that is needed and will have it when another opportunity arrives.

Security clearance investigations require verifiable addresses, employment, schooling, activities, references, etc with no gaps for a period of time. If you were out of the country for an extended period the investigators need some way of verifying with the host nation that you are being truthful about your whereabouts and activities.
