Staying awake stewing. Gnashing my teeth.

Our 4-H kids are losing their range.
For 20 years or more, we’ve used a local PD range for Pistol, Rifle, and Muzzleloader. Shotgun has their own place. Archery shoots there on the fairgrounds.

That PD uses this range as do other agencies in the area. We meet every other Saturday in the summer, and take what we can get when it comes to availability of that range. Whatever is leftover.

November is when I send in our date requests for the next summer. We usually get four or five out of six or eight I ask for. The rest of the dates we shoot airguns indoors or have a big gun cleaning.

I got an email today from them saying that with other agencies using the place, they can no longer accommodate us.

Out of the blue.
No warning.
Several agencies using the range is not news.

We are pretty much screwed without this place.

Grrrr. I need to find a bunch of baby ducks to kick.
There is more hope today, but all is not well.

We have been offered the use of a really nice private range. The downside is it’s not in our county, so it would be a long drive for at least half the families.

The Conservation Club is maybe three miles from the fairgrounds, and I think we could work out a way to use that.
The bad part there is it only has four shooting points, and we had 54 kids this year. They would spend an awful lot of time waiting on their turn to shoot, but it would beat not getting to shoot at all.

Other schemes are in the works.

Just got home from Ortho appointment. Very, very good news no damage to my prothectic left hip. Apparently the fall pinched my sciatic nerve causing the pain. Gave me a steroid injection and within several minutes the pain was gone. Don't know if I will need more injections in the future, hope not. Anyway I'm a happy camper.
Man sorry to hear about your recent fall/injury Rcurtner, but relieved you got good news from the Doctor. I hope for continued good health to you and yours going forth.

Hi,

Good news! Continuing to lift you up in prayer.

Hi,

I went to the range today and got home in time to pass out Halloween candy. It's kinda spooky out here.

A couple of kids had some pretty realistic costumes.

Trick or treat time is just about over. Yes, I gave them a trick and a treat.

At 7:30 I can pack it in. That's a good thing because it's 44 degrees out here.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Well, I think we’ve had just about all the trick or treaters we’re going to have tonight. It’s 38 degrees and drizzling. We live on a dead end road, I can literally watch the vehicles pause at the corner, and turn the other way. We don’t even have a street light up here (which doesn’t break my heart at all), so it’s just dark without our outside lights on.
Anyhoo, I may just shut it down shortly. It’s been a long day, and I’ll have left over candy (yay! 😬). I’ll take it to work next week and it’ll be gone in a flash.

Sad to report memorial services just ended for Lamb Chop stuffed critter. She was murdered and torn apart all over the yard. The culprit is a black and white Siberian Husky and she wants you to think she is sweet, she is not! She is a killer!
I totally know about the husky thing. My best friend had huskies. They always destroyed their favorite toys. Thing is…the toys get thrown away (in pieces, mind you), and those dogs would be looking all over for them forever, so of course you have to get new ones, only for them to be destroyed within a week or less.
Trust me…I know. 😉
