What are you doing right now??

Hi,

My vet did call me back. We have had him for over 30 years with all our pets. As hard as it is he agrees that she is getting worse and nothing has helped her. He also knows that this is going to hit me hard. My wife and I have had dogs for over 36 years-- all siberian huskies. I know I have to do what's best for her not what's best for me. My life is centered around her and this will leave a big hole in me. I worried what would happen to her if something happened to me. I guess I won't have to do that anymore. It just doesn't make it any easier. I just don't want the dog to suffer. I wish the weekend would never end but it will and come Monday we will have to say goodbye to her. I will never be the same again.

My heart breaks for you. It's been a week since Chewy's departure. I'm still reaching to pet him when I sit on the couch. I'm still looking to find him in all of his usual resting spots. I'll still pick up a toy of his and toss it across the room, remembering how he used to play fetch with me. I miss all the joy he brought into our lives. I'm still thinking of getting another rescue dog, mostly because I need to be rescued. Blessings to you, my friend.

My sincere sympathies,

Cliff

I was telling my friend about Maggie and he had his vet call me. He said my vet has been prescribing her meds wrong! First he told me to stop antibiotic. The reason her tummy has been upset because of her anxiety. He said to use the Trazodone that i have for her twice a day, every 12 hours. That med has to build up in her system and should be given before a noisy event not as it is happening. The only issue is that she might have to be on it until the rainy season is done here. I gave her the first dose and she has quieted down and is now finally relaxing--thank god. Wants me to get with him on Monday and he will get me a new perscription so I can get it in bulk which will be a lot cheaper. Not exactly what I wanted--to keep her doped up but if that's what it takes to keep her here with me i'll do until the fall. Then will start a week before New Years as they shoot off fireworks her for that. He says a lot of dogs have this issue some are worse than others. Hopefully this will help Maggie and keep her here with me for a few more years. So I guess there is hope. Thank you all for your concerns and comments. It really does help.

So glad to here this. She is like a lot of other dogs who just can't stand fireworks and other loud noises.

Sometimes Vets are just like people Drs . We just need to get a second opinion no matter how long we have been with them.

That’s really great, hopefully this different medicine will do the trick, again really glad you found another treatment.

I am so glad to hear this. There are millions of people with minor/moderate psychological issues who take meds regularly to keep them balanced. Why not Maggie? I'm glad your friend got a second opinion for Maggie. Bless her heart.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Hi,

Mrs. BassCliff and I had a date today. We had lunch at the Milwaukee Public Market. There are lots of food vendors here, both fresh food and cooked food, from sushi to brats and burgers. I had a calzone and Mrs. had a Philly cheesesteak.

Then we sat out in the park along Lake Michigan to see the Blue Angels perform in the annual air show.

All in all, a pretty good day. I hope everyone enjoys their blessings.

Weather has been perfect so Maggie had a great day today. The meds really calmed her down. She slept a lot and ate her dinner tonight and really looks happy. I guess time will tell. God heard my prayers.
Our dog is on trazodone 2x a day for doggy hyper anxiety.
She is scared, a spaz attack , chews on furniture and barks at every miniscule noise.
The meds make her even keal, spunky and a normal dog. Super playful and fun, just not running laps in the house every 10 seconds

Edit :
She was a rescue to us from the city pound, so she didnt have a loving family to say the least before.
She is a wonderful, loving companion and pure joy… just was a spaz attack.. we have solved that. She is in doggy nirvana in this house

She is beautiful! They told me Maggie's dose is 4 100mg pills. If need be she can get them every 6-8 hours. I gave her the first 4 this morning and she has been calm all day. I will give her the same dose tomorrow. I guess if the weather gets bad I can always give her another dose but so far the one dose has been working. I'm glad the meds are working for your dog. Hope it can do the same for mine.
