Welcome to the forum from the Wild Wild Upper Midwest, north of you a few hours. I'm not sure if I have an absolute favorite. I'm still trying to decide. Plus, next week I'll be taking delivery of another, an XDM Elite in 10mm. That will make a total of ten SA units.

When I was on one of my kicks to diversify my EDC rotation (currently only my Model 457, as has been for decades), I HAD to have a SA .45 XDE. It was damn hard to find one. I finally ordered one from Sportsmans. I got it, cleaned it, put 200 rounds through it, cleaned it, and carried it for one day. The hammer sucked. It dug into my fat all day long. I took it to a local gunsmith to see if he could do anything with the hammer to make it less sharp. He told me nothing "off the shelf" was available and the pistol wasn't worth what he'd charge me to make it right. My regular FFL gave me a good trade in value for it. The whole ordeal meade me pretty sad as it shot well, was the right size, and felt natural in my hand.

As much as I loved customizing my Echelon, it hurts my hand after a couple magazines. My favorite Springfields are my XDM Elite, XD9 Mod 2 and the Mod 3. For whatever reason, the shape of the grip of both the Hellcat and the Echelon are more squared (for lack of a better way to put it) and after firing a couple of mags down range, both guns hurt the bone in my palm. Needless to say they don’t get as much range time as they used to, as I’m not that “into” pain.
The XDs fit me better and they handle very well.
