Why the 1911 Remains a Top Choice for Gun Owners

I've had a long time love affair with the 1911. Its my favorite pistol and I have a bunch of 'em. 😁
A lightweight Commander in .45 was my primary carry for most of my adult life. Still have it and still carry it from time to time.
When I was shooting IDPA regularly, I used a Springfield Loaded Model 1911 in .45acp. No, I didn't wimp out for a 9mm version.
As for the 2011? A much better single action, double stack 9mm has been around since 1935. The Hi-Power. (y)

I’ve run a lot of plastic strikers—definitely the major players, as well as many DA/SA service pistols—P226/229, Beretta M92, CZ75/P01, HK USP, P30…

I’ve yet to find one that will outshoot, accuracy wise, a good 1911…even if it runs as much as that good 1911.

As I’ve said before; the 1911 is like entering a Model T at the Indy 500, or Daytona, LeMans…and crushing the competition.

I’m gonna disagree with you on the Hi Power—and I really like my Hi Powers.

The 2011’s straight-press trigger with minimal reset will beat even a massaged BHP trigger.
