Would you own a Taurus handgun?

I don't know. I have had my Taurus G2s apart right next to my brother's S&W M&P Shield. Could not find any discernible difference in quality between them. He has also reported feeding issues with certain types of JHP as well.
I guess you didn’t look at the recoil spring assembly? Or the feed ramp?

I agree with Bob about the recoil spring assembly. On my G2c it looks and feels cheap, however I've put about 400 rounds though mine and I haven't had an issue yet. The funny thing is Taurus sells a stainless steel recoil assembly for the G2c for $27. Why not just build the pistol with that assembly?

The only real rub I have with Taurus is their sales department. Taurus had a bundle promotion for the G2c that included a holster, laser sight, and extra magazine. When it arrived it had a holster for their 1911 model. When I called Taurus they would only fix the problem if I sent the entire package back. I have plenty of holsters so I didn't bother and the cost of the promotion was less than the cost of the laser sight alone. Still, it would have been nice if I could have just sent the holster back for the correct one.

I have a Springfield Ronin 1911 45. I have two Taurus GX3's (one in each car) and I wish I never bought the SA 1911 (which was the worst gun I've ever owned). I trust my Taurus much more than my SA 1911. I've had a Taurus revolver and, obviously, it was dependable too. I had a Taurus PT1911 that ran much better than my Ronin 1911. Go figure...

My very first new firearm I purchased was in 1991 or 92, a 1987-made Taurus .38-special. Terrible shooter, horrible sights, horrendous ergo's....but reliable as anything. Still have it...it'll go to whomever my stuff goes when I croak.

I’ve never owned a Taurus. There are a couple I might buy.

One is a T.O.R.O. revolver. That’s their Optics Ready models. I’d sorta kinda like to try a red-dotted revolver but don’t want to drill one of my S&Ws, especially since I might not like it. These TOROs would be ideal.
I’ve come as close as Gunbroker shopping for one of these.

The other eye catcher for me is the 692. That’s the DA K/L frame size with push-button interchangeable cylinders in 38/357 and 9mm. The negatives are they are ported, and the price would get me a nice old S&W… so I keep buying nice old S&Ws.

I remembered a third possibility while typing this. Their SAA-style, the Deputy isn’t it? That would be a “play” gun for me, so I wouldn’t be as picky about who made it.

Not a semi auto. Had a 908 years ago. Chunk of crap…never worked as it should. Was stolen. Best thing for me. Hope some punk tries to use it in a robbery and gets wasted when it fails to work!

Have a 44 with the ported 4” barrel. Works well, although round count is not high.

The only Taurus I've ever owned was a little PT-25 mouse gun. It worked just fine and never gave me any trouble at all. But I never warmed up to its DAO trigger and its gone.
Never really gave Taurus semi-autos much attention. Just nothing there ever appealed to me.
My best friend was a big Taurus revolver fan and had quite a few from simple .38s up to a Raging Bull .454. He liked 'em and never had any issues with any of them. I shot many of them and really liked them.
Fact is that I've been looking for a nice used Taurus revolver at a good price for a long time. I'd buy it in a second.

I quite often trust my life to a Taurus. I have a GX4 with over 5000 rounds out @ 100% perfect track record. I also on occasion carry a 605 357mag snubbie. For play, i have a TX22 with a suppressor. Great gun! For hunting purposes, i carry a 6.75 inch Raging Hunter in 454 Casull. It is brutal on deer and hogs and lazer accurate. Only gun snobs won't try one these days.

meh........i like all that i have now......

i'm try'n to cut back on my gun purchases, and into more Devil Dog's instead.

i had the G3 C..??? as a potential carry gun..too dang snappy.

got rid of it, never bothered to look at any others.

The only Taurus firearms that I have owned that gave me any trouble was the one I bought used. Its previous owner cut turns off the hammer main spring and it’s misfired a lot on double action. I put a set of wolf’s springs in it and it was fine. But somebody liked it more than I did and I sold it. I have a G3C in my get home bag now. The P226 magazines work in it and I bought a few at the local copshop for $12 each.

I don't own anything by Taurus, but was recently interested in getting a Taurus TX 22. I just wanted an inexpensive .22 plinker pistol that could easily be suppressed. Just something for fun. But now that they are so popular because of FRTing them, they are harder to find at a once reasonable price for what they are. But no matter, I'm happy with the S&W M&P 22X I put a Sparrow suppressor on.
