ATF - NFA registrations. Wait times and quantity

A trust will be way beneficial for loved ones to sort out after we pass on who gets what and any future legal concerns with NFA items. A trust and a will make it easier for family, or courts, power of attorney, and all that jazz when we pass on .
You may still be correct, you certainly were before the zero tax. Now everything you are saying can be handled with the Will and a Form 4

Im just going by what ATF said last week when we had a mother-in-law wanting to transfer a suppressor that was will from her husband to the son-in-law. It used to be a Form 5 but they no longer do that. The Form 5 isnt even listed on the eForms list

Not to mention as soon as any (D) has a say so, that tax is coming back with a vengeance. Wouldn’t surprise me if it doubles or triples…

If a person files as an “Individual” for their form 1 or form 4, then when they pass, the item must be surrended to the ATF per the regulations and law. A Will wont matter. Wont be legal unless its in a Trust. Therefore, I do items in a trust.

the item must be surrended to the ATF
OR a SOT dealer for transfer to another individual. Again you may be right; but thats the info we just received last week. Things have changed since the zero tax was implicated
I wouldn't trust the ATF any further than I can throw me truck.
Well I suppose you can trust them or not and nothing I say will likely change your mind BUT if they do change something whos to say what good a trust will do when they change

Agree and Understood, but waiting for a trust approval for a couple weeks will save a big hassle down the road when we pass on
I get what youre saying, and honestly when Im dead my kids will probably just be looking to sell them.

I got into C3 stuff way before Trusts, By the time the Trust came along it would have cost a fortune to transfer all my stuff to a Trust, so I never bothered and now it doesnt look like it would matter anyway

What i read was without a trust they will be taken by the ATF, no transfer to anyone.
Maybe so, Yes still say do a Form 5 for estates BUT the Form 5 doesnt exist anymore. What was printed before Zero Tax is out of date. We're currently doing a transfer from a widow to the shop and shop to the son-in-law because thats what ATF told us to do

As far as ATF taking them, thats only if the family says "dad died and I found these AND we dont know what to do". C3 items have always been transferred from estates, long before Trusts

By the time any of us kick the bucket our suppressors will all be old school and no one will want them. They’ll be made of unobtanium in the future and a big one will be the size of a toilet paper roll. No one’s going to be looking for a mid-2020s big-*** Dead Air Wolfman to make their ancient Turkish MP5 clone look authentic.
