Has anyone ever tried grip tape I watched a few you tube videos on it they it gives you a whole of grip

Proper technique doesnt need grip tape for the casual shooter
If you plan to shoot in the rain, outdoor matches, sweaty palms, and speed drills with all of the above, ok, go for it.
If not… don’t f’ing bother to be tacticool

I’m not planning on shooting in the rain and I don’t have trouble with sweaty hands

Use it only of you feel you need it to help your grip. Lots of folks do. I think most don't. I don't. The Talon Grip kits are industry standard and have textures from rubbery to sand paper. After you've worked with your Hellcat a few times you'll figure out whether or not you need it.

I’m about to add some to tame a new grip while I break it in.

My hands after three sessions this week with an MPA DS9 aggressive grip and very soft/low power 9mm in a 52 oz comped gun:
