About the only thing I question is the “appearance” of all the agents appearing to be watching/looking toward the stairway leading to the ballroom. Usually when you set up a perimeter, and you’re posted on that perimeter, the job is to watch what might approach that perimeter from the outside, not what’s already on the inside. It looked to me, at least from the video so far released, they all seemed to be looking inside, toward the event instead. I did see the canine unit had just walked past the door the gunman emerged from, but I do think if the agent nearest the metal detector had been observing outward, things might have ended differently.
As an aside, I do not think there was even a chance of the gunman reaching/entering the ballroom or reaching POTUS the way security was set up overall, but I do think the USSS agents at the last metal detector were a bit too comfortable that the exterior perimeters would prevent any threat from reaching their perimeter. Just my opinion.
