SHTF Scenario Definition

Well I have to say there are a lot of things you can plan for but my SHTF scenario is difficult to prepare for. I have had two house fires,one I was not at home. Fire extinguishers were in both houses. I have had 2 different times when I had people drive through my fences with there cars,one punched a hole through the wall of my daughter's bedroom while she was sleeping and I have died three times from heart attacks, fortunately EMT did CPR. Second one was in the hospital and doctor did CPR and the third was at home and died and wife did CPR. I know CPR because of law enforcement career so I say teach the family CPR most of the time there is no warning especially if you SCA (sudden cardiac arrest) like I do. You can't be prepared for everything sometimes you just hope there is help around. The shooting and stabbed I will leave for another day.

I think short of some global mass causality event (Nukes etc), any likely event will be short lived (how short is another question); but I feel pretty confident it will end and after it does there will be some reckonings for any otherwise extra lawful incidents. It may be explainable why you shot looters in your neighborhood; but shooting them at long range might be harder. You might be able to explain why you took groceries or building materials or fuel; but using violence to take them will be even harder.

Perhaps the best definition of SHTF is intentionally vague because those scenarios are predictably unpredictable. Plan for the worst

If anything large scale happened 2/3 of folks would be dead in a month. No clean water, no food, they’re toast. Remember how rabid folks got in New Orleans after Katrina? Just a small sample of what would happen if things actually got bad

Years ago, heck decades ago now I guess, we lost power for a week. My first introduction to SHTF on a personal level. Pretty inconvenient but it put the thought in me that I should be more prepared. But, I was financially stressed at that time, renting and new kid. Putting in a pantry full was what I could do.

In the intervening years my problems were blizzard type events and a job loss. Pantry and savings were utilized. When you’re the sole provider for 5 that stuff touches SHTF in my brain, I switch to a survival mode.

Do we consider Covid? Me, I was not really affected, honestly it was one of the most prosperous times in my career. Caught the ick way before it was cool, and again about the time it was in the rear view mirror.

The point is this, SHTF can be quite situational for each of us. Of course EMP, nuclear winter, Cleveland Browns winning the Super Bowl are all going to change the world as we know it. But preparation for that is just beyond my imagination and ability.

I’m good for a serious month or 2 without outside intervention. A couple 19th century plains Indians could probably get by for a winter here at the Hertervilla.

as far as the shitake hitting the fan, we were just talking this morning about robots ai etc
especially the dog robot that has wheels and can go 50 mph ... strap a flaw thrower on that and we need more bullets

i posted the other day we got our 1st flock camera in out little town of 2700 and county of 49k

SHTF is different from one person to another. During ME.'s Ice Storm of 97 Mom and Dad lost power for just over four weeks. Tried to get them to come live with me but oh no can't do that :mad:. I got to drive on ice covered back roads every other day to make sure they were okay. They had a dozen railroad lanterns and candles galore, the wood stove for heat and baking, grill on the covered porch, the old hand pump still in the well in the well house. We moved the fridge and freezer onto the porch and dad kept them cold with buckets of ice. After they got power back I said to mom "must be nice to have your power back". She replied "Oh I guess. In the evenings we play cribbage, parcheesi, talked, read to each other, played guitars, now all he does is sleep in front of the TV."

my orbit... is my mom next door and my grand daughter that lives 20 miles away
i can manage mom and the grand child and her son for 5 days the baby daddy(boy) can stay home and tend to the cat

we keep enough stuff to survive 14 days... we have generators and cots .

but in the end, mrs boatr, the bull dog( shelby) and mom are the priority
simple fact is i would have to convince myself not feed the boy to the alligators if he was here more than 24 hrs... he is just that irritating , or duct tape him up and lock him in a closet until the event if over
