Springfield Kuna Review — A Roller-Delayed 9mm

Got half of the light installed. Got tired of waiting for aluminum pieces from Magpul and bought some polymer from Cabela’s. Bunged up on touchpad mlok 🤦‍♂️ need two small sections

Picked mine up at my LGS Sunday, no gouging, 1049 w/ stock.
Ran 4 mags through it Tuesday. Zero issues. Waiting for my 510c to arrive, so I threw an el cheapo dot up top and even with the bargain basement amazon dot it was very, very accurate. This thing…is begging for a can. That’ll be my project/research in the next few days. As many other reviews have said.. dry fire, the trigger feels very meh. Actual fire, it’s very good. Great? No? Match grade? No. More than adequate? Absolutely.

I paid a little bit of “new ransom” as I picked up 2 mags and paid $5 over retail for each… so be it. Early adopter tax.

My only complaint? It really, really needs a loader for these mags. Each of mine hold 31. While it’s very easy to load, that’s a lot of thumbs on those rounds, give us a speedloader please. I can confirm double stack mag Upula does not work. Loving this Kuna so far, looking to get a solid 200 to 300 more down range for the upcoming weekend.

I’ve only run 124 grain reloads through it thus far, going to run other ammo through it as well, including my go to, 124gr HST or 124 +p Gold dots.

Great little PDW/PCC….whatever they want to be identified as now…lol. I identify it as fun!

Got to put 100 rounds through mine today. 50 supers and 50 subs. Functioned flawlessly. My first go around for a PCC so nothing to compare it to, but I liked it! Here’s a short video. First 5 shots supersonic, second 5 shots subsonic. Pretty sweet.

Yep, my buddy was lane next to me with his new MAC 5, surppressed, shooting HUSH 165 grain. Unreal.. like a cap gun. US… what kind of can are you using? I’m trying to shorten my learning curve…. TIA.

That’s a Sig ModX-9. It’s one I use on my Masada pistol. I’m probably going to get a dedicated can for this. I’ve pretty much made up my mind to get the AB F4L. It’s back ordered on Silencer Shop now, but I’ll do it sooner than later. I was using Blazer 115s and Remington 147 subs. Pretty darned quiet with the subs.

Put another 120 down range yesterday. ZERO failures of any kind… as much fun as it is to shoot normal, suppressed, even better. My only complaint.. is gas.
I picked up a Rugged Obsidian 9 for it..
My 510c arrives Tuesday, I’ll be picking up a tri lug adapter for it soon.
I shoot 95% of the time 124 grain reloads. I gotta tell you, I didn’t notice any difference in sound between the 124 reloads and the 150 grain subsonic loads I bought onsite to test with.
Can’t wait to get a proper sight on this and really have some fun. Can’t wait for a dang speedloader, either..

Gotta agree with the speed loader comments. 30 rounds is a lot to put your thumb through when it gets emptied so quickly. :)

Keeping an eye on when this comes back in stock.

That looks like the ticket!!

Just hit the 500 round mark today and had malfunction. I quick cleaned it last night before going to range today. Ran about 50 through it un suppressed then threw can on for 50 super and 50 sub. Loaded another 25 super and while running had the bolt not close. Cycled and it ejected and when i looked at the bullet it was smooshed into case. Moved it off to the side and thought maybe i was a dumb dumb and missed it while i was loading magazine. Ran another mag of sub and then was finishing for the day with supers. Had same issue happen again.

What i reckon was issue is she got really dirty running can and dirty subby ammo and didn’t like the flat nose i put in her. Bullet didn’t feed properly and bolt slammed into back and smooshed it in. Moral of story, i need to clean kuna tatta better before range time.

I ran into trouble with a box of .45 MagTech ammo in my SIG P220 where a couple rounds did that. It was an ammo defect, never happened on another occasion before or after.
Good information, appreciate it! After good cleaning next time out will eject every now and then to see if any markings and try to isolate and diagnose.

I either buy from my reloaded (close to 40K rounds over the past 5 years) or…if I’m in a hurry, I’ll hit up Sportsman Warehouse and get Blazer 124gr brass.
In the last 1K I bought from them, these came out of the box this way. 3, in the same box, all other rounds were fine.
it happens.

Tapped out with brass rod.
