WEED

Additionally…

I’ve never really had someone who was stoned off their (donkey) seriously threaten to kick my (donkey), or take a swing.

The only time someone came close. I pointed out they’d need to stand up first…at which point they told me that it was my final warning, which I graciously accepted.;)

I'm a child of the 50s, teenager in the 60s and early 70s and believe it or not, I have never smoked marijuana in my entire life. Nope, I was a drunk instead.
Over the years I have known many weed smokers. Many were very good friends. And honestly, none of them have ever gotten as stupid as alcohol made me. I have absolutely nothing against the occasional recreational weed smoker. I'd have no problem with making it legal everywhere.
OTOH, I have known people who just constantly stayed stoned all day, every day. These are the ones you gotta watch out for. They're dangerous and stupid.

problem is, so many get into thier car, and drive stoned...so then...what's worse a stone driver, or a drunk driver...????
More propaganda mostly by older people who grew up in the age of anti pot rhetoric and stereotypes
  1. Being on common (and perfectly legal) prescription pills and driving is much more dangerous than smoking a joint and drinking.
  2. Working a 12 hour shift and driving home or not getting a full night's rest, both of which is perfectly legal and social acceptable) is much more dangerous than smoking a joint.
  3. Texting, talking on the phone, or messing with the car radio or GPS while driving is much more dangerous than smoking a joint and getting behind the wheel.
  4. Being distracted by a car full of children or a baby while driving is statistically more dangerous.
  5. Driving while being the age of some of the members of this forum and older people in general causes slower reaction times and a higher risk of being in an accident than younger people smoking a joint and driving.
  6. Driving while under the age of 25 isn't as much of a risk as someone 25 and older smoking a joint before driving.
This all seems like selective outrage based off of years of being groomed and indoctrinated. When critical thinking, objective thoughts, common sense, and perspective is applied to the topic, the smoking or ingestion of a plant flower isn't a huge deal or much.

It makes no sense what's so ever for weed to be as taboo and illegal as it is while alcohol is perfectly legal and acceptable when taking into account all the deaths, domestic abuse, sexual assaults, vehicular homicides, health risk, havock, etc., etc., that's caused by alcohol. Those who are anti marijuana but are pro or indifferent about alcohol are outright hypocrites, IMHO. There are a plethora of worse things one can and does do on a daily basis that's worse health wise and more deadly than M.J.

So no one assumes otherwise, no, I don't smoke weed or even like the smell. I'm just a realist, critical thinker, and a libertarian.

Your lungs are the most sensitive organ in your body to pollution, irritants and diseases.

Besides what's ever floating around in the air, smoking tobacco and weed causes damage and just like what happened with the cigarette companies sooner or later the same controversy will happen in the future regarding pot.

Most people aren't smoking it anymore. They're eating it.

There are more smoking it than you may realize, and the latest is vaping it. Thus the lungs still get it.

THC gummy bears are a different thing.
Vaping is not the same as smoking. THC vapes put THC and water vapor in the lungs. Not burning organic material and rolling paper. Exponentially less harmful than smoking cigarettes.

And I know a whole lot of people who are using weed. And most of them are doing the gummies. Even the ones smoking the weed out of pipes though aren't doing near the damage to their lungs that cigarette smokers, such as myself, are doing to theirs.

Never seen a stoned driver try to do 100…usually they’re at 50% speed.
Which becomes an issue when it takes many seconds instead of one or two to get to the brake pedal or make a necessary immediate maneuver with the steering wheel. And yes, same with alcohol impairment. No one should be driving impaired on anything, including lack of sleep…period!

Vaping also puts some fairly serious heavy metals in the lungs.

I quit smoking cigarettes coming up on 20 years ago…the devil’s lettuce (;))longer than that.

I’d rather smoke a pack of unfiltered Camels than take a hit off a vape; dead serious, there.

YUP. Legal weed has been great so far.
During the debate for legalization the "Cannabis Council of Maine" hammered the point about all the taxes that would come into the state coffers. Now that pot is being taxed like booze and tobacco, all the pot heads are screaming bloody murder
NOTE: I'm not blaming pot any more than I would blame a gun for a killing or a car for a drunk driver. However, legalization hasn't turned out to be all unicorns pissing champaine.

From my time working undercover drugs in my younger days, I can tell you the combined effects of alcohol and pot are far greater, and more dangerous, than just one or the other. You just can't do either one and get behind the wheel and those who do are Adam Henrys.

I know this an old thread, and I may have said this elsewhere on this site....

My now ex-wife has genetically horrible spine issues. She just had her 4th spinal surgery a month ago (3 fusions and one cyst-removal). She has had 2 surgeries this year (to-date). She has taken opioids as prescribed many times, and was/is fearful of addiction, given her propensity for sever spinal surgeries. Weed has been a viable and effective alternative for her. Admittedly weed is 100% illegal in this state, but she has chosen to take that risk. I have smoked it....it is not for me....puts me right to sleep. I'd rather drink bourbon. But for her, it is a rational medical decision, and I agree (for her specific case). Given how well it has worked for her, I have no illusions that this is a clear-cut issue. While I may be a far right-winger, this is one issue where I am clearly divergent from that platform.

I might add that alcohol is doing me far more harm than weed is doing to her, post-divorce. Now where did I put my glencairn...?

All of them or just certain ones ?

Do you have a link to some info on this ? My wife quit smoking cigarettes almost two years ago by vaping. Currently she is highly agitated by RFK stopping them at customs.

This was just the first hit in a Google search…Johns Hopkins is going to be a pretty solid source.

I just recalled a news article I read a while back stating it.
