I have used full length guide rods in my 1911's not once have they needed "fitted" to the gun. I've never once experienced the issue the OP has at the moment. I have switched to the flat wire wilson spring and titanium full length guide rod, still no issues.

The Vortex strike eagle 1x8x24 SFP LPVO 30mm tube is not much more on closeout. I paid $275 with the cantilever mount. With a LPVO scope IMHO a FFP reticle is basically useless at 1x power. The reticle is too small to be useful.

In all my years all the hard chrome I've seen has been a matte finish. If you can get shiny chrome, how would you only get it on sides and not the other surfaces? Since you dip the part in a liquid bath, is there a coating application on the other surfaces to resist the plating process? Heck...
