Welcome to the recently improved Reloading section, now known as Ammunition & Reloading. Thanks to the suggestions of our members and the brainstorming of our distinguished staff. Where all discussions on ammunition and reloading are now consolidated, no need to hunt through pages of threads in other categories to find information on any elusive round or those pesky specs on reloading; from now on, they can all be found here. Please post any future postings regarding any form of ammunition in this section. If you know of a post regarding ammunition that is lingering in other sections of the forum, please gently bring it to our attention so we can move it to its appropriate new home. Over the next several weeks, mods and forum staff will be moving any we can find. Leave no page unturned. We do not want any stray bullets unaccounted for out there.

Interesting article on the 10mm round, I have the S&W 610, good gun. The 10mm is a good round, but it has it’s limitations like other rounds have.

Any centerfire cartridge aside from the .223/5.56 is too expensive to shoot for plinking. But if you're a serious target shooter you'll shoot whatever you use.

My PSA PA10 (AR10-type) in 6.5 CM is very accirate and fits a role in the herd.

I too like my two 6.5 Swedes, one a CZ550 & the other a M38. The 6.5 Swede has two loading categories, the standard mil-spec and the SKAN which is a modern power level not to be used in the older mil rifles. Both are fun and not plinkers but I don;t shoot them much due to ammo costs but use the CZ550 for hunting.

The .45 Super is a powerful handgun cartridge that is externally/dimensionally identical to 45 ACP or 45 ACP +P. Developed in 1988 by Dean Grennell, a well-known writer in the firearms field. It has a thicker case wall and is loaded to higher pressures, which offers an average 300 feet per second (91 m/s) improvement in muzzle velocity over the .45 ACP. The cartridge was co-developed with Tom Fergerson and Ace Hindman.

In 1988, a Gun World article detailed Grennell's efforts to update the .45 ACP for the 21st century, a difficult endeavor...

The .284 Winchester somehow continues to rise from the ashes of changing rifle fashions. It appeared in 1963 in Winchester’s Model 88 lever-action and Model 100 semiautomatic rifles, and was designed to basically duplicate the ballistics of the .270 Winchester and, to a lesser extent, the .280 Remington in “faster-firing” rifles.

To attain .270 ballistics required more powder capacity than the .308, so Winchester created a slightly fatter and longer case. Its rim was the same diameter as the .308’s. However, the .284’s case in front of the extractor groove measured .500 inch, tapering...

Ammo prices are coming down here

I was in my LGS yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see 9mm Fiocchi 115 grain ball at $11 per box. That's the best price I have seen since COVID. Now if we could just get .45acp into reasonable territory.
