Same for me…and they still had drivers ed class in school; everbody took it.

Hmm… Only thing Ive seen involving 5am was for provisional/probational new drivers, ie 16 yr olds who just got their license and are driving for the first time without an adult in the jump seat.

For any oils/solvents with a bad smell (the otherwise excellent Clenzoil comes to mind), when I buy a new container of it I open it just enough to air out and set it securely on the back porch for a few hours. Let the pent-up odor dissipate. After that, it’s never as strong when i next use it...

Hayes mentioned loosening up the slide by removing the recoil spring plug & bushing. Seems to me removing the MSH might loosen the internals as well. Also, the grips off so you can get a good look at the plunger tube. Check for fitment etc.

Ed Brown has 9mil mags for 1911; they come with two diff base pads or can be left flush-fit…Stainless or blued.

Yes, very good write up; good useful info Simon… One ques: it kinda looks to have a decent undercut where trigger guard meets grip. More than a “standard 1911”, say. Is that the case? I like it that way for my smallish hands.

Congrats on getting a Ronin in ,45, curtner….A very good choice, imho ! I’m ex-mil, and entered service just a couple yrs after adoption of the 9mm M9; point is, in 22 yrs I never had experience with “the.45” …. Then, almost 6 yrs ago, I happened upon and bought an RIA basic GI 1911 at my LGS...

Greetings Kermit ! 1. You are on the right track by taking some machining classes at community college. 2. You could, concurrently with comm. college and if you have time, take SDI (Sonoran mentioned above) at the same time. This will give you knowledge, even if some of it is esoteric or not...
