    Powder question

I'm inclined to agree. Mine is a 6mm ARC. I built mine using a Ballistics Advantage 16" barrel so I don't have to worry about the ATF for this build. Real stock, not a brace. Built it for one reason...to have another cartridge to load. I have no other reason to have it. Playing with 103gr...

    Servicios y Aventuras SPP and 40 S&W

As with many others I picked up 3 bricks of the SyA primers and made up some 40 S&W ammo. Made it to the range for the first time this year. No excuses. Anyway, I brought 2 of my 40s with me for testing. My Springfield EMP and my new Taurus TH40C. The test rounds were really good, accurate, very...

    primer(s) prices for bulk

Keep your eyes on a site called kygunco.com. They have a couple of retail stores in Kentucky. I was able to pick up 5 bricks of REM 6 1/2 3 months ago for $430.30 delivered. They’ve had 5k cases of numerous brands and sizes, so just keep watching. They frequently advertise for cases of Federal...

135gr 40S&W Frangible Bullets (Sinterfire) - First Shots

Just remember to start low, and keep longer COL as you work up. There’s so little published data, even less for the 135gr Sinterfire rounds, which must have been targeted to 10mm loads. Be cautious with anything you pick up from the internet. I used 2 firearms in testing…Beretta PX4 Storm and...

I found Small Rifle Primers today

I had to drive to North Carolina earlier this month (fortunately I was coming home from Myrtle Beach, so not a big deviation) as I found a guy willing to part with 5 bricks of Federal LPP for $75 per. A month earlier I scored 5 bricks of Remington 7 1/2 Benchrest primers for $ 430.30 delivered...

135gr 40S&W Frangible Bullets (Sinterfire) - First Shots

Yep…old thread, but nice to see some new action. One thing we began to understand when loading for this pew pew is that 180gr load data puts you in the ballpark. One load app I use shows a Speer GDHP load as 6.7gr max Unique for 180gr, so you started quite low…as you learned. Also, these guys...

    Springfield Armory

Time for another update on my Springfield family of pistols. Although I'd hoped to find an EMP in 9mm last year, it was not to be. It was easier to find primers than a SA EMP 9mm. The Ronin EMP came out, and as luck would have it, I found a Ronin EMP 9mm and a standard EMP in 9mm. After handing...

Is Everything You Know About .40 Wrong?

This was the perfect round for my Springfield EMP. I like metal, hammer fired guns, and there is little to cause my heart to pound (speaking strictly of firearms) than a beautiful 1911. Taking advantage of the current dislike for all things 40S&W I picked up my EMP for a steal. Adding to my joy...

    Springfield EMP .40 3”

A few months ago I came across a set of files from my previous career with NCR Corp. I immediately recognized the files...being the original announcement pics of the Springfield Armory EMP when it was released so many years ago. I'd totally forgotten these pics. I'd forgotten all about my...

    Springfield EMP .40 3”

This remains one of my all time favorite handguns. I’m a long time 1911 fan, having carried one during my 9 years in the USN. I’ve been developing loads for it all year long, and have another 6 powder/bullet combinations to test out. I’ve gotten pretty good at taking it down, now that the recoil...

    reusing primers

Yes, and yes. I have removed primers from brass, whatever the reason. I have reinstalled those same primers into other cases...or in the case of an inverted primer back into the same case. Primers reinstalled with no issue. Tight, stayed tight, no anvils fell out. No change in resistance level...

    reusing primers

Buried in my prior response... Never an issue, and all removed primers fired without exception in other brass. No observed impact to the anvil, no dent, no ding, no damage. 100% ignition when re-used.

    Springfield Armory

I just came back to this thread and realized how much has changed since my late January posts. First, it appears that a couple more Springfield purchases occurred. I bought another 911, despite the challenges I'd had with my first one. It has been a quite different and wonderful experience. I...

Chronograph: Why checking your speed proves invaluable

I hope to obtain and use a chronograph one day. I never have, and at this point I have nowhere to use one. All of my shooting is an indoor, 20 yard range. Now, the state outdoor shooting range that closed for a 3 month renovation 2 years ago recently opened. I have plans to check it out. I'm...

    reusing primers

I have decapped numerous primers with zero issue. I've done it with sizing die as well as with universal decapping die. Never an issue, and all removed primers fired without exception in other brass. While I don't intentionally ruin a case just to see if I can reuse a primer, I have split case...

300 AAC Blackout Flame Thrower - Need Help!

Sounds about right...normal catch phrase "Drop Starting Load 10% and work up" QUOTE="TEXASforLIFE, post: 64477, member: 2963"] H110 gives you more velocity range. Yes, seems that H110 does even appear in load charts until the higher velocities, then continue long after others max out. That...

Primed 40 S&W Cases - New Brass - Iffy Primers

Strange post to respond to in this manner. I was explaining the method I use to remove squib loads, if any. Your instructions, in your response, could potentially produce additional problems. It implies that you want to force out the squib with another fired round...not advisable.
