QVO Tactical More Discreet Holster Review

December 25th, 2021

On September 30th, 2021, Springfield Armory released the new XD-M Elite 3.8” Compact OSP 10mm handgun. Being a fan of the XD-M Elite models, I was very excited about this model.

QVO Tactical offers a number of overlay patterns for the More Discreet IWB holster. Other options include Tiger Strip, Rhodesian Brushstroke and Relv Moab camo.

One of the questions I had, though, was what kind of holster could I find for it. Fortunately, I found the QVO Tactical More Discreet IWB holster. And that rig is what I’m reviewing today.

Holster Test Platform

For this holster review, I used the aforementioned XD-M Elite Compact OSP with a HEX Dragonfly optic.

This QVO Tactical holster is cut to accommodate the HEX Dragonfly and other red dot optics mounted on the XD-M Elite pistol.

The gun has a 3.8” match grade barrel, two 11-round magazines, a 4.5-lb. flat META (Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly), and an ambidextrous slide stop and magazine release. Additionally, the XD-M Elite Compact 10mm has a removable flared magwell, U-Dot sights, and weighs just 37 oz. loaded with 11 rounds of 10mm.

Being that the pistol is an OSP (Optical Sight Pistol), it is offered with a HEX Dragonfly 3.5 MOA red dot. The Hex Dragonfly is aluminum housed with an anti-fog, anti-glare and anti-scratch lens. Just a few adjustments and the Hex Dragonfly was on target.

Together, the XD-M Elite Compact with the Hex Dragonfly was extremely accurate when shooting. I had a blast ringing steel with both target and self-defense 10mm loads.

QVO Tactical Holster

Every time Springfield Armory releases a new handgun, shooters ask about holster availability. They love everything about the pistol; however, if they can’t carry it with a quality-made holster they may take a hard pass.

Concealed carry is the main use of the QVO Tactical holster. However, they also work well for carrying around the house.

Well, let your tender hearts not be troubled because QVO Tactical produces a sharp-looking retention Kydex holster. It’s called the “More Discreet” IWB holster, and it is offered in several Kydex designs and color patterns.

The QVO “More Discreet” Kydex holster featured in this review has double belt clips for a tight, secure position on the hip. The clips can be raised or lowered depending on how deeply concealed the carrier wants the pistol carried inside the waistband.

There are several retention screws around the body of the holster. This allows the user to adjust the amount of retention the holster has on the handgun. I know some carriers who prefer the holster to fit very tight. They feel that no matter what scenario they find themselves in, the pistol will stay close to their body. I get that mindset and it is solid thinking.

Personally, I prefer the holster to fit a bit less snugly. I like a clean and quick draw. I don’t want to fight with the holster to draw the pistol. Either way, QVO Tactical has you covered with your personal preferred amount of retention.

Red Dot Holsters

QVO understands the growing trend of red dots on carry guns. The “red dot” concept for concealed carriers has grown incredibly in the past five years. Springfield Armory has met the demand with their growing line of OSP handguns that are fitted for red dots.

The XD-M Elite 3.8″ Compact OSP 10mm conceals easily with the QVO’s wing that tucks the pistol grip into the body.

QVO Tactical has also met the red dot demand by producing red dot-ready Kydex holsters that are perfectly cut to avoid any interference with retrieving and reholstering a handgun with a red dot. Furthermore, QVO Tactical allows for options like threaded barrels, the size of the sweat guard, attached lights, a single wide belt clip, and various fabric overlays.

What’s the Bottom Line?

The bottom line is this. If you fell in love with the Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 3.8” Compact OSP 10mm pistol like I did, QVO produces outstanding holsters to support it. I like many options and choices.

Both the XD-M Elite Compact 10mm and the QVO Tactical “More Discreet” Kydex holster offer options for the carrier. We are talking about top-of-the-line gear for a superior Compact 10mm pistol. I don’t think it can get any better than this.
