Matt spent 23 years as a deputy sheriff in Sacramento, California. During his time as a LEO, he attended countless firearms training classes, was a California POST-certified firearms instructor, and a court-recognized firearms expert. Matt began writing pieces for public consumption in 2012 at a now-defunct political blog, but quickly found more enjoyment writing about firearms for The Bangswitch. He has had pieces published at Law Enforcement Today, The Daily Caller, CRPA Firing Line magazine and Guns & Weapons for Law Enforcement magazine. He also runs 2A Cops – Cops Supporting Gun Rights. Since retiring from law enforcement, Matt fills some of his time as the assistant manager of an Idaho gun store.
