Barrett Tillman is a professional author and speaker with a journalism degree from the University of Oregon. He has worked as a reporter, foreign correspondent, book and magazine editor and publisher. As recipient of 10 writing awards, he has nearly 50 fiction and nonfiction books to his credit and more than 800 articles published worldwide in addition to a screenplay.
Tillman grew up restoring and flying vintage aircraft with his father, a World War II-trained aviator. Tillman has logged several hundred hours in historic aircraft, from biplane trainers to the world’s only airworthy Douglas Dauntless dive bomber. He has been to sea in U.S. Navy ships and has landed on an aircraft carrier.
A lifelong shooter, Tillman cofounded Oregon IPSC in 1978 and led the Single Action Shooting Society’s national champion team in 1997. He hunted in Zimbabwe while reporting on political developments there in 2000.
Tillman has been an NRA certified instructor in four disciplines, a CCW instructor, and was a deputy rangemaster for his home country’s sheriff’s office.
