Carry Guns in Gun-Free Zones

November 7th, 2019

Editor’s Note: This is the third entry in our 12-part Armed & Ready series from Richard Nance and Handguns magazine. The series covers a range of personal defense and CCW topics. See links below for the other entries:

As a dedicated CCW user, you know that you should carry at all times that is legal to do so. Why? You don’t get to pick and choose when someone is going to attack you. However, we know that there are times when you are not going to be able to legally carry everywhere you go. So, what do you do with your firearm in those cases?

If you need to dump your EDC, make sure it’s in a secure storage system like this Vaultec SE20 Slider Safe.

If I’m telling you to always carry, what do you do with your gun when you go somewhere (such as a federal building or a sporting arena where no firearms are allowed)? A good option is a safe that can be carried in your vehicle. That way you have the ability to carry your handgun where legal, but also have a safe storage area accessible for when you need to leave it behind.

Some Options

Today, we take a look at some options from Vaultek, which give you some solid options for firearms storage. The first is the VT Series, which combines a biometric scanner, illuminated keypad, impact detection, foam interior, and much more. The SE20 Slider Series with a keypad access system is mountable and has a “slider” tray that presents the stored pistol.

Being a responsible gun user means you must make sure your firearm is secure at all times.

Thoughts

Making sure your firearm is secure at all times is an absolute must. At any point you no longer have the pistol on your person, having a back-up storage system that is safe and secure is a necessity.
